#752 - Pounding the Pack

It started out dicey, but Duke ended up putting a pretty good beatdown on NC State in the first ACC game for the Blue Devils this football season. Donald was in attendance and he joins Jason for a recap of the best moments from Wally Wade. After the break, the DBR Podcast crew looks at some other results around the ACC and they talk about Donald's homecoming weekend at which he was honored by the Duke alumni association. #751 - NCSU Preview + Why Duke Hasn't Gotten a 2026 Recruit Yet

Duke football embarks on their ACC part of the schedule this weekend with a homecoming matchup against nearby NC State, a team that is 3-0 which has been... well... the polar opposite of Duke so far this year when it comes to playing mistake-free. The DBR Podcast crew has a preview of the big game. After the break, Jason and Donald dive into some basketball recruiting news... or rather the lack of news. They explain why Jon Scheyer and company (and most everyone else) have not landed any prized player from the high school senior class. Should you be worried about Duke's reputation as a recruiting juggernaut? Spoiler alert -- NO! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

#750 - Some intel on the Duke rotation

The back half of this episode will be a lot more fun than the front... The Duke Basketball Roundup gang (Jason and Scott this week) begin by diving into the Duke football loss to Tulane. Unlike the Illinois game, this one didn't feel like Duke got robbed as much as it did that Duke just didn't come to play. But, after the break the guys have some fun breaking down some notes on the Duke hoops team courtesy an article published this week by Brendan Marks of The Athletic. Jon Scheyer has some really interesting combinations to play with this upcoming season. Is the Blue-White game really less than 3 weeks away?!?! Learn more about your ad choices. #749 - ACC Schedule Breakdown

The ACC has told us when, where, and who Duke will be playing during the conference season this coming year and the DBR Podcast has a complete breakdown of what to expect. From a trio of Saturday/Monday short rest games to a long road trip to the West Coast, Jason and Donald dig into the pitfalls and opportunities in every game. They also look at the rest of the league to try to find which teams got scheduling breaks and which ones have a tough road to ACC contender status. After the break, the guys dive into a little bit of silliness... who would you pick from Duke history to play by your side in a 3-on-3 matchup? Learn more about your ad choices. #748 - Feeling ill about football mental mistakes

If you look at most of the stats from Saturday's Duke-Illinois football game, it looks like a competitive contest... except for the final score. The DBR Podcast dives into what went wrong (duuuh, turnovers) and what Duke can do to fix it. We also look at a few other interesting results from across the college football landscape -- you will be sorry if you miss Jason's rant about Florida State. In the back half of the episode, the guys get into what "the money" sees as it looks ahead to the college basketball season. Who are the favorites to win the natty and the player of the year... and what odds can you get on any team going undefeated this season? Listen to the DBR Podcast to find out! #747 - Recapping Week 1 of College Football

Duke Football took care of business against Elon in their opening game of the 2025 season as Week 1 kicked off with some exciting matchups! We welcome back Scott Rich on Episode 747 to take us through all of the big takeaways from the long weekend of football. Jason is returning home from vacation, so Scott and Donald take flight on this episode beginning by recapping Duke’s 45-17 win over Elon on Thursday night. Darian Mensah looked as advertised, and the passing game was pretty fun to watch as Duke eventually took control of the game in the second half. The running game had some good moments, but could still use some improvement. We discuss some of the other players who stood out in Duke’s win as we prepare for Illinois to come to town this weekend. We also get into the exciting opening weekend of college football, first with the ACC and then extending to the rest of the nation. Miami and Florida looked good in their big wins over the weekend, while we also laugh at UNC for getting trounced by TCU. We end by saluting Lee Corso on his retirement and of course Scott and Donald get their Michigan talk in with Jason not around to stop them. Make sure you’re following us! #746 - 5 Best Things From Jon Scheyer Interview

The Jon Scheyer interview is completed, and Donald and Jason are still buzzing about it! On Episode 746, they break down some of their favorite portions of their chat with the Duke head coach. First, Emmanuel Dildy has been promoted to associate head coach, and there’s a quick discussion on this move. Then, we get to the full breakdown of the best parts of Jon Scheyer’s comments. We react to Scheyer’s thoughts on the non-conference schedule, Pat Ngongba, Cam Boozer potentially being a point forward, Maliq Brown’s motivational return from his shoulder injury last season, and what Scheyer feels is his best coaching move. #744 - Anna Snyder talks Duke Football

The Duke Football team begins the 2025 season on Thursday night against Elon, and we’re ready to break down how the team is going to play. But we can’t do it alone. On Episode 744, we are proud to welcome Anna Snyder, the new Duke beat writer for the Fayetteville Observer, to the show! Anna has done an in depth look at the Duke team, and we get to know her and her ties to Duke before she began her role as Duke beat writer just a few weeks ago. We begin with the offense, led by standout transfer Darien Mensah at quarterback. We discuss who the key players will be at each position on the field as the offense tries to move the chains and score points. We get into the defense as well, which is led by preseason All-American Chandler Rivers. We highlight where the key positions will be and how the D will seek to keep their opponents out of the endzone and also try to give the offense short field via stops and takeaways.
