My guest today is Thomas Curran, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His primary area of expertise is the personality characteristic of perfectionism, how it develops, and how it impacts on mental health. His most notable work is the theory of cultural influences on perfectionism, which rose to special prominence following a 2017 publication of the first systems-level cohort study to show that perfectionism is on the rise in American, Canadian, and British college students.  The topic is his book The Perfection Trap: Embracing the Power of Good Enough. My guest today is Christopher Chabris, a cognitive psychologist and a well-known researcher in the fields of psychology and human cognition. He is most famous for his work on the "invisible gorilla" experiment, which he conducted during his graduate studies at Harvard University along with Daniel Simons. This experiment demonstrated the phenomenon of "inattentional blindness," where people fail to notice unexpected objects or events if their attention is focused on a different task. My guests today are Richard Liddle and Gareth Abbot. Richard Liddle is the CEO of Bowmoor Capital. Gareth Abbot is the Investment Manager of Bowmoor Capital. He is a mathematician by profession and passion and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA).
