This week we chatted with Steve Kirsch, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur (he is the inventor of the optical mouse and one of the first Internet search engines, Infoseek). He's also a cancer survivor (thanks to experimental research he funded himself to save his own life) and a philanthropist who founded the "C-Word" Early Treatment Fund and the "V---" Safety Research Foundation. (Our apologies--We have to abbreviate words that get censored. #iykyk) He has also donated over $20 million to the Democratic Party and was presented the National Caring Award by Hillary Clinton in 2003. Roe V Wade was overturned last week by the Supreme Court which meant that after almost 50 years of abortion access being considered a constitutional right, the legislation was sent back to the individual states to decide for themselves. This court decision set the country ablaze and in turn forced the three of us to become even more informed to understand what was happening, what was at stake, what has transpired historically, and what this means for the future. While these can be the times we find it far more comfortable to not "wade into the waters" of controversial conversations, we want to normalize having these very conversations with respect.
