Accepting the Apostle Paul

Jay talks about the recent growth that he has noticed in the popularity of Christians to disregard the writings and teaching of the Apostle Paul. Jay argues that this is not entirely fair, pointing out that the primary reasons for this dismissal are: (1) The clobber passage in his book of Romans, which is endlessly misunderstood and taken out of its cultural context, which quickly clarifies that this passage is referring to sex rituals used in idol worship, as well as the sexual depravity of priests who would molest children. (2) The pastoral epistles, which are not actually written by Paul, but are rather forgeries, for which Jay makes an air-tight, logical case.Recorded in Seattle, Washington on Sunday, May 30th, 2021.www.revolutionchurch.com/donatewww.facebook.com/revolutionchurchmn@revolutionchurch94@jaybakker@revolutioncaleb Hosted on Acast. Meet Your Congregation: Matt McCrorey

Caleb has a chat with Matt McCrorey from back in Revolution's old home of Minneapolis. Caleb and Matt used to attend a couple of group meetings for people to discuss their deconstruction/deconversion, and though he is not a regular participant or listener, Matt has attended Revolution a time or two at Bryant-Lake Bowl in Minnesota. The Wisdom of Oz

Caleb gives a talk on Christ's assertion that knowledge of the Truth will set you free. He proposes that perhaps the most powerful and absolute Freedom, is found when we let go of our FEAR of an angry, vengeful, jealous, selfish God.He examines this theory by employing the help of the classic, fantastic story of the Wizard of Oz.www.revolutionchurch.com/donateJoin us Sunday mornings at 11am PST to enjoy the Facebook livestream and interact with the speaker and the online congregation:www.facebook.com/revolutionchurchmn@revolutioncaleb@revolutionchurch94@jaybakker Hosted on Acast. Living Beyond Pain

Jay Bakker gives a Sunday morning talk that warns us of the many tempting pitfalls surrounding a state of resignation to excessively and primarily self-identifying as a victimized individual. When we fall into this destructive pattern of weakness, we subject ourselves to more negative consequences brought on by a lack of accountability and critical self-analysis. Jay encourages the congregation that, by caring for each other and decisively cooperating as one Body, we can defend ourselves and others against these dangers while promoting healing--constantly strengthening our loving community in constructive dialogue and practicing our ability to disagree well.Recorded on Sunday, May 16th 2021 in Seattle, Washington.Listen and interact LIVE, Sundays at 11am PST, on our Facebook livestream:www.facebook.com/RevolutionChurchMNSubscribe to our Youtube channel for videos of Sunday gatherings, as well as other exclusive content not available elsewhere:www.youtube.com/RevolutionBroadcastingWe are entirely and exclusively sustained by your generous support. Church Check-in: Revolution Minneapolis

Caleb gives Brien Aadland a call to catch up and find out how things are going back in Minnesota with Revolution Church Minneapolis. The close friends spend their time remembering how this Revolution Church "plant" of sorts came to be, when Jay and Caleb left Minnesota to relocate to Seattle. Brien has aspired to pastor a nontraditional, "disorganized religion", punk church for years, so the hole left in Minneapolis's Bryant-Lake Bowl by the relocation of Jay's Revolution was bittersweet; the end of one chapter meant the beginning of another.Recorded in Seattle, WA and St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, May 8th 2021.www.facebook.com/Revolution-Church-Minneapolis@RevolutionChurchMPLS@roguetheologianwww.RevolutionChurch.comwww.facebook.com/RevolutionChurchMNwww.youtube.com/RevolutionBroadcasting@revolutionchurch94@jaybakker@RevolutionChurchCalebMusic by Andrew Bryant @magnoliastate.Engineered & edited by Caleb Rowe. Meet Your Congregation: Kerry Hawk Lessard

Jay and Caleb welcome our first Revolution member who is also a devout, currently-practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints--Kerry Hawk Lessard! Kerry is great at nuanced blending of--and appreciation for--dynamics that may appear to be opposing or conflicting. Her story is quite unique, and her voice is very strong. This is one that you'll just have to hear for yourself to appreciate.@khawklessard@revolutionchurch94@jaybakker@revolutioncalebwww.revolutionchurch.com/donatewww.facebook.com/revolutionchurchmn#disagreewell#arguewell#buildingbridges#buildbridges#godislove#churchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints#lds#mormon Hosted on Acast.
