Complicated Kids

In this video I get to talk with trained therapist and child development and parent expert, Claire Lerner. Clair has been helping parents dissect their child's behavior with her expertise since the late 80's and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dealing with your kids. We talk about how she helps parents to better understand the issues that they may face and that are unique to each child. She helps parents by assisting them in understanding why they are acting the way that they are. Not only does it have to do with their environment, but the context of the situation. We often don't give enough credit to the little things and how they are able to make our children feel the way that they do.

In this interview I had the amazing opportunity to chat with an absolute powerhouse in the SLP community, Sara Rosenfeld Johnson. Sara not only helped in making Oral Placement Therapy make sense to SLPs throughout the world, but she is an author, founder of TalkTools, mother of 3 and grandmother of 8. Sara discusses her career, the struggles she faced as a student, the obstacles she overcame as a therapist, and what she discovered about the link between mind and body when it comes to speech therapy.

In this week's podcast I sat down with author, non-profit creator, dietician, and nutritionist, Kelly Dorfman. Kelly has worked with doctors throughout the country and children and their families throughout the world in order to help those that have developmental issues figure out if the food they are eating may be the cause of some of those issues.

During this interview, I get to talk to the amazing Martha Adler about a tough subject. Tune in to hear more about our children's experience with death and what different ways we frame it for them can result in.

In this week's interview I had a great opportunity to sit down with Jackie Beach from Rally Supports Families to discuss the amazing services that they offer families and children. Rally Supports Families does great work helping parents navigate the professional services that their children may need, how to advocate in the best interest of their children, and answering questions they may not be comfortable asking the pros.
