On this episode of Rehash, we’re talking with LDF, Chief gm Officer of the Open Metaverse. With roots in tech, marketing, and gaming, and former spots at Facebook and Reddit, LDF stumbled into web3 several years ago. She wasn’t initially drawn in by the financial aspect, but NFTs certainly managed to spark her interest. LDF saw blockchain, along with its decentralized toolset, as an opportunity to create new monetization models that could truly enable the ownership economy. During our chat LDF speaks on the future of work, the unique path she took into web3, and the roles that memes play in our lives, both online and off. On this episode of Rehash, we’re talking with Abe Uccello, founder of Pris0n Art. Abe has an interesting professional past, having worked in tech and later serving as the Director of the Florida Department of Corrections. His time in these spaces gave him a unique perspective on how emerging tech, like web3, could be used to bring about positive change for incarcerated individuals.This led Abe to spin up Pris0n Art - an organization that helps those coming out of the prison system pay their legal fees through the creation and sale of NFTs. Around 30% of felons land back in prison due to their inability to pay these fees, leading to a vicious cycle that it’s easy to see but difficult to climb out of. Pris0n Art works with the incarcerated to help them tell their stories through art, sell that art as NFTs, and use those funds to pay their debt. She embraced this opportunity and has continued to make incredible contributions to the web3 space since. Regan explains the challenges newbies face when entering web3 for the first time, and gives listeners advice on how to navigate DAO onboarding, DAO compensation, and even choosing the right DAO for you. Astro Girls is a generative pfp project with artwork created by @eleven_gua. The mission of the project is to help women onboard into web3 and promote diversity in the space. Regan gives us some insight into the story of how Astro Girls came to be, as well as her own experience working with a team of incredible women from all around the world. Finally, Regan leaves us with some tips for young women and college students like herself who want to go full-time web3.
