Rick & Morty & Archetypal Masculinity

Rick and Morty is one of the most popular TV shows due to great writing and clever plotlines. But one of the reasons for its diehard male fan base maybe how the show demonstrates elements of the male psychodrama. In this episode, Ruwan discusses a few elements of the masculine unconscious that is portrayed in the show.Music by @collin_stanley For the video version of this podcast, click here: https://youtu.be/gWdvZN9dgro See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Get full access to Ruwando Substack at ruwando.substack.com/subscribe

Prometheus Rising: 4 Neural Circuits of Consciousness

Drawing from Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising, we dig into Timothy Leary's Eight Circuit Model of Consciousness. The first four circuits (bio-survival, emotional-territorial, semantic, and socio-sexual) are present in all humans. Most human behavior, individually and collectively, is unconsciously driven by these circuits. Understanding them allows us to explain and predict behavior in politics, personality, and response to the environment. Much of this episode relates to the earlier Medusa/Mother Complex and Father Wound/Hero's Journey episodes, though from a more biological level. This gives a more neurological basis for the metaphoric ideas of Carl Jung. For the video version of this podcast, click here: https://youtu.be/QgHTUimFv7Q See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Get full access to Ruwando Substack at ruwando.substack.com/subscribe

Why Amoebas Wiggle: The Role of the Ego and Unifying the Unconscious

What is the point of an ego? Many spiritual folks demonize the ego as this thing to 'transcended'. But the ego is one of the most important (and human) parts of the psyche. An expressed ego is necessary to unify your unconscious elements towards creativity and away from self-sabotage.We continue today through the Hero's Journey from the Mother Complex and Father Wound to what the formed ego is "supposed to do" once it has formed. We explain how the ego evolved alongside the evolution of life (and arguably all energy and matter). We also talk about why and how amoeba wiggles. For the video version of this podcast, click here: https://youtu.be/UWxvcGfh_rU See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Get full access to Ruwando Substack at ruwando.substack.com/subscribe

Father Wound & Secondary Father

The Father Wound are insecurities that come from the shortcomings of our primary role model. Many myths show slaying a father figure (i.e. Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader) because it represents a man being able to separate from his paternal shadow. Healing the wounds, and expressing dormant masculinity happens through what Joseph Campbell calls the Secondary Father. What it means to 'slay the dragon' in your mind'Saving the princess' myths and your own AnimaHow to heal your Father WoundThe anthropological/sociological correlation, tribal rites of passageWhy so many stories have orphans as the main characterThe logical side of the creative actLeadership, reality creation, and decisivenessGenes vs. memesHow to live a Life TriumphantHeal your Father Wound.
