SBG 23: Cruel Intentions

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk about why Cruel Intentions should've been gay. After a good re-watch, they both confirmed how problematic this film is. However, what if it was gay?? From that Central Park make out scene to the possibility of Annette and Cecile riding off into the sunset at the end of the film, Cruel Intentions could have been a gay masterpiece. Ellie reimagines the film as a competition between Sebastian and Katherine for Annette's affections with Katherine winning of course. And Leigh has a far less twisted ending with the Annette and Cecile getting together in the ultimate revenge for Katherine and Sebastian messing with their lives. What better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this movie? SBG 22: LIVE from the Bell House: SBG Phantom of the Opera, SVU and Matilda with Carolyn Bergier, Jes Tom and Elsa Waithe

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with Carolyn Bergier, Jes Tom and Elsa Waithe for their first LIVE SHOW in New York at the Bell House. Carolyn Bergier dives into why Law & Order SVU should've been gay because Mariska Hargitay, all of the sexual tension between Olivia Benson and Alex Cabot and Olivia's pajama vest. Jes Tom dives into why Phantom of the Opera Should've Been Gay from Meg's unrequited love for Christine, the idea of hiding and the amount of unnecessary touching and longing glances from Meg during Think of Me and Angel of Music. Elsa Waithe dives into why Matilda Should've Gay because Miss Honey turned all of us gay. Also pretty much every actor in that movie is now some sort of queer in real life. Oh and the Trunchbull. It's all too obvious. Subscribe to our mailing list for updates on upcoming live shows. Follow along on Twitter: Lez Hang Out (@lezhangoutpod) and answer our Q & Gay at the end of every episode. 213: Lez-ssentials Saving Face

Leigh and Ellie dive into Saving Face for this Lez-ssentials episode, a recurring segment on the essential movies and TV shows in the lesbian canon. Saving Face is a 2004 movie about a Chinese-American lesbian and her traditionalist mother who are reluctant to go public with secret loves that clash against cultural expectations. This film stars Joan Chen, Michelle Krusiec and Lynn Chen. Leigh and Ellie love this movie and have a lot to say about one of the few lesbian rom coms that we have with a happy ending. We talk about mother daughter relationships, societal expectations and forbidden love. Lez-ssentials comes complete with a Saving Face drinking game because every lesbian movie should be accompanied by heavy drinking. This episode also comes with an original Lez-ssentials song based off of the movie titled "Bad Reputation." Follow along on Twitter: Lez Hang Out (@lezhangoutpod) and answer our Q & Gay at the end of every episode. We talk the obvious chemistry between Liv and Peyton, that one time that Peyton spanks Liv in a dominatrix outfit, honorable mention for #rager and why Liv being a sexually fluid zombie just makes sense. SBG 20: Laverne & Shirley

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk about why Laverne & Shirley should've been gay. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Lesbians incorporated! Laverne & Shirley are just two single working girls living together and barely ever having successful relationships with men. Do we smell a Boston marriage? Leigh and Ellie talk about the gayest intro sequence, the episode where Laverne & Shirley stay in the Honeymoon Suite together, how gay it is to work at a brewery and of course their kiss in an airplane when they both think they're going to die. We dedicate this episode to Penny Marshall because what greater tribute can we give to a feminist icon than to talk about how many young gay women fell in love with her iconic character.
