This week we said goodbye to investing legend Charlie Munger, and I reflect on how Berkshire's stunning success is "only" about 20% pa compound - something that we should be able to replicate ourselves. Maybe not for 65 years though! It gives us something to aim for, and reinforces the vital quality of patience in investing.It was wonderful to catch up with everyone at Mello Chiswick, chatting to many Stockopedia subscribers there, and hearing from superb speakers and some excellent companies too.In this podcast I rattle through the 27 companies we wrote about in this week's Small Cap Value Reports on Stockopedia. Paul runs through dozens of UK small caps that have reported either results or trading updates this week. All views are just my opinions, which could be right or wrong in future, when things have changed. So always do your own research please. The small caps market continues to be dominated by profit warnings and takeover bids, so quite a lottery at the moment! Will the big, inflation-busting pay rises for pensioners, benefits claimants, and Living Wage, plus the 2% cut in NICs from January, trigger a consumer boom in 2024 (just in time for the election!)? A notable week with 3 takeover bids just in one day! Bargains galore in the small caps space, evidenced by all the takeover bids. We've seen a strong rebound in the last 3 weeks, in both small and mid caps. Is this the (overdue!) start of a new bull market, or just another bear market bounce? No idea, we focus on company fundamentals, and we're seeing many smashing risk:reward situations as dislocated market liquidity throws numerous bargains at us, so Paul remains very enthusiastic (taking a medium term view).
