023 - Training like a pro football player, Dr. Graeme Lauriston

Dr. Graeme Lauriston is a DPT who is the Physical Therapy Director for Pro/Elite Sports at EXOS, an elite sports performance group based out of Arizona and Florida. In 2017 Exos was responsible for preparing collegiate football players for the NFL Combine, 84 of them were drafted. That number is staggering. What is more staggering is the level of responsibility that someone like Graeme has with that group of athletes because everyone knows that the most important thing for an athlete to be is healthy, and their health is his responsibility. In this episode Graeme talks about doing what you don’t enjoy to be elite and he also discusses how young aspiring professionals can crack into a career with a company like Exos.   We can be found at: @activeliferx www.performancecarerx.com

021 - How to Break the rules to be successful, Rachel Balkovech

Rachel Balkovec is the first female strength and conditioning coordinator in the history of professional baseball, but this episode is not about how Rachel broke through the glass ceiling. This episode is about all the things that make Rachel impressive, the things that make Rachel valuable, the things that make Rachel successful. If you pay attention to this episode it will be impossible for you not to be inspired by Rachel’s energy. A chance meeting with Rachel during spring training was a pivotal moment that inspired me to start this podcast in the first place. You are not going to want to miss it. Now boasting over 1,600 members, yes, sixteen hundred, and over 20 full time staff, Michael’s job is to make sure the new staff are mentored effectively. In this conversation Michael talks about how to manage the largest class in the largest gym in the world and how to keep the staff engaged and invested in such a large community where it may otherwise be easy to get lost.   We can be found at: @activeliferx www.PerformanceCareRx.com www.youtube.com/theactivelife

017 - How should you train to be a better baseball player? Brent Porciau

Brent Porciau is nothing if not passionate. Brent took a catastrophic arm injury and a disastrous prognosis and turned it into an evolution of the training methodology that surrounds throwing a baseball. He used his own recovery, influenced by strength coach Kurt Hester, a lot of desperation, and a sprinkle of foolishness to stumble onto the most critically efficient and measurable system to train better throwing mechanics and create a healthier athlete. Brent is disrupting baseball so much that he has received death threats from the purists and is on the most wanted (to shut up) list of some of baseball’s biggest outfits. This was a fun interview to conduct because Brent has so much passion. Have a listen and form an opinion of your own.   Brent Porciau can be found at: @topvelocity topvelocity.net   We can be found at: @activeliferx www.PerformanceCareRx.com www.youtube.com/theactivelife
