Left of the Projector
On Left of the Projector we discuss from film from a leftist perspective. Episodes will feature guests who will offer their thoughts on films from a shared interest in class consciousness and personal experience. While everyone can take something different from a movie, LotP will provide discussion and analysis from an anti-capitalist and Marxist point of view. BONUS: The Grapes of Wrath with The Intervention
Bonus crossover content!! I joined The Intervention to discuss a couple of pieces of culture from the New Deal Era. We start by taking a look at the fascistic Gabriel Over the White House, brought to you by arch-reactionary and media oligarch, William Randolph Hearst. We then move to the meat of the discussion on a decidedly better piece of culture, The Grapes of Wrath, in its various media manifestations.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Rob Rousseau (Insurgents podcast) and Oslowe
Is this movie a remake? If so, is it "the greatest remake of all time?" Regardless, the space goo has come to earth and it is turning everyone into mindless consumers who no longer think for themselves. Can it be stopped before it's too late?

Brazil with Chris Wade (Chapo Trap House, And Introducing) and Commie Trucker
This week on the show we discuss a film that was almost never even made, but Terry Gilliam pulled it off and thank god he did. Gilliam created a world that melds together hope, fear, love and much more. I am joined by Chris Wade (producer of Chapo Traphouse) and Commie Trucker (Left Without Borders). //

Dogma (1999)
Kevin Smith created the View Askewniverse for his films and it's quite possible that Dogma is the most polished, insightful and "best" of the bunch. Men in Black with Andre Swai and CJ (@LoveBroccoli)
The Men in Black: a secret agency of the the Immigration and Naturalization Services (I.N.S.) that is in charge of illegal and legal "aliens" from other galaxies. Their existance is hidden through a flashy red light that allows the agency to mold the story to fit their narrative. Add this all together and you political film showing the dangers of illegal immigrants and how the US uses propaganda surrounding it to fit their narrative.
I'm joined by Andre and CJ to discuss this blockbuster 90's film.

Superman (1978) with Collective Action Comics and Legendary Black Lion
Up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, no it's three leftists talking about the original Superman movie. Christopher Reeves, for many, is the Superman. This movie built on decades of Superman comics and brought him the man of steel to the big screen. I'm joined by Superman expert Nat (Collectitve Action Comics) and Legendary Black Lion.

The Running Man with Dang We Stole This Podcast
This week on LotP I bring you The Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger (he's in the movie, not a guest). A perhaps somewhat forgotten film from the 1980's that depicts a dystopian future where people are forced to compete on a TV Game show while being hunted by stalkers. The movie is loosely based on a novel by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) and takes some liberties to make it into an Arnold classic.

Uncut Gems is a thrilling romp through the mind of Howie (Adam Sandler) and how he manages multiple bets, debts and much more. Take some blood pressure meds and strap in.

The Hobbit Trilogy with a bunch of Tolkeinists
Order is back to the shire. For those that had issue with the ep at 1:09:55, it's fixed! If there ever was any doubt that capitalism has major impacts on movies, this is the ultimate evidence. A wonderful kids book, 250 pagse in length was turned into a trilogy of movies over 8 hours long. There are pointless battles, characters, love triangles and other revisionism.I'm joined by my LOTR companion, Hungry Rye (who you may remember from the LOTR Trilogy of episodes), Mike (turn leftist podcast) and Nick (Intervention podcast) to discuss. The Intervention: //https://www.instagram.com/intervention_pod/ //https://theinterventionpod.buzzsprout.com/ //Turn Leftist: //https://linktr.ee/turnleftist //https://instagram.com/turnleftist //https://twitter.com/turnleftistpod //Hungry Rye: //http://tiktok.com/@hungryRyehttps://instagram.com/hungryRye //Left of the Projector Links:Patreon // Podcast Stream Links // Merch Store // YouTube Channel // Instagram // TikTok --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/leftoftheprojector/support
