PEP Talk, S2 Episode 11 | Nigel Phan, Founder Whirli

In episode 11 of season 2 of PEP Talk, we spoke to Nigel Phan. Nigel first came up with the idea for Whirli after many of his friends became parents and he was suddenly surrounded by conversations surrounding children’s toys. From the cost of constantly purchasing new toys as their children grew out of the old ones, to issues with cluttering in their home. With UK consumers spending £370m on toys in 2018 and a poll by the British Heart Foundation discovering more than a quarter of parents admit to throwing away toys that are in perfect working order - it is clear that there is a need to provide an affordable, sustainable alternative. Conscious of this gap in the market, Nigel left his corporate job to start Whirli in 2018 - a venture that uses the power of sharing to help parents save money, declutter their homes, and consume eco-consciously.
