Ep 59: Daring Greatly by Brené Brown: Lessons + Takeaways

If you’ve spent any time in the personal development world I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard of Brené Brown. She’s a shame and vulnerability researcher known for her powerful Ted Talks (particularly this one), her best-selling books (like the one I talk about in this episode) and being adored by Oprah Winfrey (there’s no better qualification than that). I first read Daring Greatly by Brené Brown a couple of years ago and learned A LOT from it then, but when I found myself recommending the book to one of my readers I decided I’d read it too. And I’m so glad I did! In this episode, I’m sharing the biggest lessons I learned from Daring Greatly and how I’m applying them to my life. If you’re struggling with perfectionism, fear of failure or holding yourself back - this episode is for you! I hope you enjoy this episode and it inspires you to pick up a copy of the book. If you’ve spent a little time in the self-help world, you’ve probably already heard of this one. But Brené Brown is a queen when it comes to shedding some much-needed light on shame – a feeling that most of us spend a lot of time carrying around but never talk about. I also talk about 5 of the signs that you’re scared of success and what to do about it if you do! Ep 57: 7 Differences Between High Achievers + Perfectionists

I often get asked whether overcoming perfectionism will make a person less successful. When I first started out on my personal development journey, I thought it was my perfectionistic traits that had created my success. I remember feeling worried that if I was kinder to myself and I didn’t have crazy expectations, I wouldn’t get as much done. What I know for sure is that it was my perfectionism that was actually stopping my success, rather than helping it. Although I could perform well under pressure, it was super stressful, I burned myself out all the time and I needed a deadline to get anything done. Not to mention I was constantly in all-or-nothing mode, terrified of judgement and always holding myself back. In this episode, I share 7 differences between perfectionists and high achievers so you’ll feel willing to let go of perfectionism for good. I also give practical advice to help move you away from perfectionism and into being a high achiever. I hope you find it helpful!

Ep 52: The 3 Stages of Personal Growth

Becoming your best self sounds SO appealing. But what’s rarely talked about is the process you have to go through to get there - and that it’s not rainbows and butterflies. I’ve been a personal development addict for at least 5 years now and have found that I typically cycle through 3 stages as I continue to improve myself - discovery, implementation and recalibration (aka stagnation). I thought it might be helpful to share this so that when it feels like you’ve taken a few steps back, you’ll know that nothing has gone wrong. It’s just part of the process. I also thought it would be helpful in the sense that it will get you reflecting on what stage of personal growth you’re currently in and perhaps a few of the reasons why you’re not seeing the kind of change that you’re hoping for.  I hope you find the episode helpful! Ep 51: The End of Smart Twenties + What’s Coming Next

I started Smart Twenties five years ago so I could blog about how to make the most of your twenties - a dilemma I was in the process of figuring out myself. As time has gone on, my focus has changed from figuring out how to make the most of my twenties to figuring out how to get out of my own way and overcome my perfectionist tendencies. But with the name ‘Smart Twenties’, that isn’t particularly clear. In this episode, I’m sharing the reasons why I’ve decided to rebrand myself and leave the name Smart Twenties behind. Thank you for your support until this point and I hope you’re as excited about the changes as I am! Subscribe To The Perfectionism Project iTunes Stitcher Soundcloud

Ep 50: How To Make Your Goals Feel Normal

In this episode of The Smart Twenties Podcast I’m sharing practical advice to help you transform your mindset around your goals. I hope you find it helpful!
