Eddie Murphy - THE Eddie Murphy - spoke to Ali recently about his new movie, Coming 2 America, the much anticipated sequel to his beloved 1988 comedy about Crown Prince Akeem (Murphy himself) traveling to New York to find his one true love. Now, decades later, the follow-up has landed on Amazon Prime Video, and we can all return to Zamunda just one more time. Oh, and just to be clear: this interview contains strong language (as you may have guessed) so forewarned is forearmed.

On this week's Friday podcast, we've got a bumper edition of 'Ali Plumb's Film Club' where friend of the show and all-round excellent person stops by to talk about Best Picture winner Gladiator, the historically fluid swords and sandals story that left millions of people trying to impersonate Russell Crowe's gravelly voice for, well, quite some time. To this day, even. We've also got a short and sweet news section, as well as a tiny clip of Russell himself from his Movies That Made Me from back in the day, just to spice things up (and show off, let's be honest).

A new Disney animation is here, the first since - checks notes - Frozen 2 in November 2019, and the first one partly made in animators' homes and not actually entirely in the House Of Mouse. Here, Ali talks to its stars, Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina, as well as its directors, Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, and its two writers, Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim and producer Osnat Shurer. Almost the whole gang, basically!

Daniel Radcliffe has a new film out, the tense prison break thriller Escape From Pretoria, and he got on the line with Ali to talk all about it recently now it's out on Amazon Prime Video. If you're not already in the know, he plays Tim Jenkins, the real-life South African political prisoner who managed to break out of jail in 1979 using - wait for it - wooden keys. Yep. So to hear The Artist Formerly Known As The Boy Who Lived talking about South African accents, acting alongside the man you yourself are playing, as well as what he's kept as movie mementos over the years, press play and regret nothing.

After Radio 1's Movies Week - where Greg James set Ali the task of watching as many films as possible in a week - Ali is back and normal podcast service can finally resume. Hooray and so forth. You've got the news section, where the likes of Tom Holland, Zack Snyder and Emma Stone crop up, as well as good ol' Ali Plumb's Film Club, which sees Mollie King stopping by to talk about her love of Valentine's Day favourite Notting Hill in exquisite detail. And okay, sure, there's a bit of waffle about the movie marathon too if you're into that sort of thing, but no obligation, honestly, it's right at the very end and everything.
