Radio 1's Screen Time

One of Ali's favourite Christmas movies of recent years - and maybe, just maybe, *ever* - is Klaus, the animated triumph from SPA Studios available to watch all-year round on that there Netflix. After recommending the movie to all and sundry, Ali finally got in touch with the film's writer-director Sergio Pablos to see if he'd be willing to talk about how he made the film, the casting, the animation, the fan reaction each and every year and much much more. And you know what? He said yes, and here is the wonderful result. Merry Christmas one and all, and remember: a true selfless act always sparks another.

An unusual Friday edition of Radio 1's Screen Time as friend of the show (and stand up comedian extraordinaire) Alasdair Beckett-King stops by to talk to Ali at length about what makes a good Christmas movie - and what makes a good Christmas special of a sitcom. Bold statements are made, names are misremembered and stories are conflated - just the way you like it.

Netflix's The Power of the Dog is the latest from the critically-acclaimed filmmaker Jane Campion, and as such it's really quite a big deal indeed. Helping matters is its excellent cast, including the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jesse Plemons, the first three of which you'll hear from today on this interview special podcast episode. They talk about Campion's legacy, shooting in New Zealand and how the pandemic made things just a tiny bit trickier, to say the least.

The upcoming TV show Hawkeye finally gives everyone's favourite MCU marksman his time to shine - though as Jeremy Renner will tell you, he's been shining perfectly fine for the past decade, thank you very much. Joining him on his new Disney+ adventure is the prodigiously talented Hailee Steinfeld, playing one Kate Bishop - an extremely important character in the Hawkeye comics - as well as Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox and more.
