#45 Is Christianity Just a Crutch? (Expanded Guide)
Is Christianity just a crutch?
Welcome to Worldview Legacy, with Joel Settecase (I don’t actually say my name in this episode, so if you didn’t know me, now you do).
This is a common thing you’ll hear non-Christians say. It’s different from many other objections such as “Can we trust the Bible,” or “Does Christianity contradict science,” because it’s a lot more emotional and less logical. It’s a “soul objection.” The good news is that you can answer soul objections the same way you answer every other challenge to your Christian faith—with a 3-step, presuppositional method that goes straight to the Gospel.
Specifically in this episode, you're going to learn:
How the person accusing Christianity of being a crutch is being arbitrary and inconsistent—and how to point this out.
Why the crutch objection itself makes no sense unless Christianity is true.
How your own story can be a powerful answer to the crutch objection.
We've tackled this question before back in 2001, but what you're about to hear is expanded and updated. With all due respect to the previous episode, this one is way better.

#44 Which Version Of The Bible Is Best For You? (In-Depth Guide) | Guest: Drew Von Nieda
What’s your go-to Bible translation?
You know the Bible wasn’t written in English, so every English Bible we read is a translation. The translation you choose is really important. This is what we’re talking about today.
Drew Von Nieda joins us for a deep dive into translation styles, textual traditions, and how to choose the right Bible for you and your family. This will help you build a legacy in the Christian worldview for your family and the younger generation.
In this episode you will learn:
• The difference between formal equivalency, dynamic equivalency, and optimal equivalency.
• The problem with gender inclusive language in some Bible translations.
• A brief introduction to eight different translations: the KJV, NASB, LSB, CSB, ICB, ESV, NET and NIV, as well as the MacArthur Study Bible and the Geneva Bible.
• The distinction between Bibles based on the Eclectic Text tradition vs. the Textus Receptus—and which ones better.
• How to get started with studying Greek so you can make your own translations.
• Why unless you’re in full-time ministry you don’t need to buy a bunch of different Bible translations, but you do need a good commentary.

#43 Can God Make A Rock So Big He Can't Lift It?
Can God make a rock so heavy, He can't lift it?
When you peel back the layers, you find there's more to this question than you first expect.
Today you’re going to hear a method for defending your faith that you can use with this question—and many more.
Specifically, you will learn:
• What is the real challenge being presented by the "unliftable rock" question?
• What role can shame play in answering objections to Christianity?
• How can you get to the bigger question behind the "rock question" and use that to give a strong defense of the Christian worldview?
• Can God actually create a rock so heavy He can't lift it, or not?
What you’re about to hear is an episode that we published on the feed back on March 22, 2022.
We’re republishing it again today because it’s incredibly relevant to where we are, right now.
If you’ve heard it before, I think it’s time you heard it again. And if you haven’t heard it yet, it’s really going to be beneficial to you.

#42 How To Answer Questions About Evidence Like Francis Schaeffer
ThinkSquad, have you ever had someone ask you for evidence that God is real?
He may tell you he wants some cold, hard, facts to prove that Christianity is true.
At first, this seems like a reasonable request.
But what if evidence only has meaning if God is real?
In this episode you’re going to get the answer, in a way that I believe Francis Schaeffer, one of the most important worldview leaders of the 20th Century, might have answered it today.
In this episode you’ll get answers to these questions:
• Why everything in the universe only has meaning in terms of its relationships to other things.
• What it means for God to be the “ultimate reference point” for everything.
• How to tell someone why his life has meaning in relationship to God.
We’ll also look at some Scripture passages that are relevant to this discussion.

#41 The Christian Man's Guide To Answering Atheists Who Demand Evidence
If an atheist or a skeptic were to ask you for evidence that Christianity is true, what would be your first response? Would you tell him about the historical reliability of the New Testament, or the minimal facts supporting the Resurrection of Jesus?
In this episode you’re going to learn how to:
• Show why, when an atheist demands evidence, he is being inconsistent.
• Explain how the Christian worldview gives the basis for the very idea of evidence.
• Make a quick case for Christianity using evidence.

#40 What Does The Bible Say About Judging?
In Matthew 7, Jesus Christ clearly says, “Judge not.”
For this reason, Christians will be accused of breaking Jesus’ command when we call out sin. We need to know how to respond. Jesus did say “judge not,” but there’s more to it, and that’s what we’re talking about today.
Today we’re going to do a deep dive on this, and we’re going to look at:
• Four ways the Bible says you shouldn’t judge.
• Five ways the Bible says you should judge.
• Then we’ll look at how this question connects to everyday life, and how you can live out this teaching in your local area.

#39 - How to Use Presuppositional Apologetics
If you haven’t seen it yet, the new report from the Barna Group just came out, and they are reporting that today only 4% of Americans have a biblical worldview.
We need more Christians articulating the Christian message. And when we do, our neighbors are going to have questions and objections. That means we Christians need to be ready to defend our faith.
We need apologetics.
So how do you use presuppositional apologetics?
In this episode you’ll get answers to these questions:
• What IS Apologetics?
• Why must we defend the biblical worldview in a biblical way?
• How can you start using a simple, three-step method of presuppositional apologetics today?

#38 Why Didn’t Jesus Know The Day Or Hour Of The End? (Matthew 24:36 Explained)
Since Jesus is God, and God is all-knowing, then… is Jesus all-knowing? And if He is, then how do you explain Matthew 24:36?
This is something you need to know, for at least three reasons. First, it's important for Christian discipleship. Second, this is going to help you become your own family's Bible answer man. And third, this is going to level up your apologetic.
Specifically, we will talk about
• Why this can be a tough challenge to answer.
• What the hypostatic union is, and how it is relevant to this question.
• Why it's actually absurd for a skeptic or atheist to accuse Scripture of having a contradiction.
• How the skeptic is being arbitrary in defining God and omniscience, and how to expose that.
• Why the possibility of contradictions in our doctrine should matter to Christians.
• Why it's important to use the Bible's own definitions for omniscience, and God, and Jesus, and how to explain this.
• Why Jesus not knowing the answer is a good thing.
• What Jesus could have said instead that would have actually been problematic.
• Why the complaint about Jesus not knowing tells us more about the person making the objection than about any problem with Christian theology.

#37 How To Stand Firm In Your Christian Convictions Under Pressure (Powerful Story) | Guest: Juan-Elias Riesco
Have you been facing pressure to put your pronouns in your emails? In 2020 did your company release a statement supporting BLM? How can you deal with pressure from wokeness at work in a way that honors Jesus Christ as Lord, and loves your neighbor as yourself? What should you do when you experience pressure from your company to conform to an ideology that goes against biblical Christianity? What if the pressure comes from outside your company—what should you do?
To help us find these answers, we're joined by Juan-Elias Riesco. Juan ran the number one rated restaurant in Chicago and was launching a successful clothing brand, until everything changed when the woke mob attacked.
You're going to hear Juan-Elias's story, and learn some powerful principles that will help you survive wokeness wherever you are facing it—whether in the form of a mob, or in "diversity, equity, and inclusion" trainings in the workplace.
Specifically, you're going to hear Juan-Elias talk about
• What his life was like before he became saved, and how he became a Christian.
• How he was able to his homosexual lifestyle behind him.
• What it was like to build the number one rated restaurant in Chicago, only to have it all collapse in a few days.
• How he handled woke protestors
• Why he moved out of Chicago, to Dallas, only to return to Chicago, and what he's doing now.
• What he thinks is the holiest thing you can actually do at your job.

#36 Why The Very Concept Of Truth Is Impossible Without God
"What is truth?" This question was asked by Pontius Pilate to Jesus Christ on the night when Jesus was on trial.
Pilate never stuck around for the answer—and his question echoes in our culture today.
Skeptics, atheists, agnostics, and adherents of other religions will say that Christianity is not true. But what if the very concept of truth is impossible without first believing in the Christian worldview? That's what we're talking about today.
Specifically, we’re going to talk about:
• Why it can be difficult to define truth.
• The three Cs of truth.
• The relationship between truth and logic.
• The correspondence between truth and reality.
• Why something that is true must also correspond to the conventions of language.
• Why coherence, correspondence and comprehensibility all presuppose God.
• Atheism's problem with truth.
