Are you feeling apprehensive about the upcoming year? In Luke 2, a mysterious man named Simeon appears for a very short scene. He makes an astonishing prophecy about Jesus and then disappears, never to be seen again in the Bible. In that prophecy, Simeon reveals three shocking truths about the arrival of Jesus. These are: The salvation that went to the "wrong" people. The sign that gave the "wrong" message. The sword the pointed the "wrong" way. In this episode, we will look at each one, and we will see why the very things that make Jesus' arrival on earth so shocking, also bring incredible comfort in the year ahead. Simeon's Prophecy is one of the lesser-known encounters with Jesus in the Gospels, despite being part of the broader birth narrative.
