WORLDVIEW WEDS: Why Christians Should Be Thinking About Adoption Right Now

Stats are clear that the best possible environment for a child to be raised in is with one mom, one dad, living together. For sure, sometimes that doesn't work out. Divorce happens, spouses die, tragedy befalls. But the ideal is still there: children do best when raised by mom and dad.  But what if we told you that RIGHT NOW there are over 44,000 children living without a mom or dad in the US foster care system? And that the average age of these children is 6 1/2? And that children who age out of the foster care system face grave disadvantages later in life, compared to children who live with their parents? And that adoption is an incredible blessing to the adoptive parents and a powerful way to carry out your own piece of Christ's Great Commission to the church? Today on the Think Podcast, it's Worldview Wednesday with Joel and Pastor Raef, and we're going to look at adoption from a biblical perspective, and how the glorious Christian teaching on adoption collides head-on with the world's culture of abortion and death. Maybe you'll get to the end of this and still say adoption isn't for you, but you owe it to yourself at least to listen in. Let's do this. SONS OF THUNDER: Jordan Peterson, Disney Movies, and Sharing Your Faith | Dr. Ron Dart

In a world where basic understanding of biblical ideas is on the decline, sharing the Gospel with our neighbors has become harder than ever before.  But what if there were a cultural phenomenon we could use as a bridge to help our neighbors better understand the tenets of the Gospel? And what if that bridge is... Disney movies?   I'm joined by my brother and co-host of the Sons of Thunder podcast, Parker Settecase. And our guest today is Dr. Ron Dart. Dr. Dart is the author of Myth and Meaning in Jordan Peterson. He teaches in the Department of Political Science, Philosophy, and Religious Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley in British Colombia. He has authored or coauthored 35 books, and he joins Parker and Joel for a very special Tuesday Twofer episode of the Think Podcast, to discuss Jordan Peterson, Disney Movies, modern myths, and the Gospel. WORLDVIEW WEDS: The Beirut Blast And The Bible

On August 4, 2020, the city of Beirut in Lebanon was rocked by a devastating explosion. One week later, details continue to pour in, as the whole world reels from the almost unbelievable event. But how should Christians, who believe God both perfectly good and also fully in control, respond to this event? On today's Worldview Wednesday, Joel and Pastor Raef are going to open our Bibles and see what God's word has to say, and how a similar event in Jesus' day can serve as the key to how we deal with tragedies of this magnitude. THINKPOD: Apologetics In A World Of Wokeness | Neil Shenvi

If you've been studying apologetics at all over the last 20 years, you've probably learned some solid arguments against New Atheism, and maybe Islam, Mormonism, and other ideologies believed by those outside the church. But in the last few years a completely new ideology has sprung onto the scene, catching us off-guard and making head-spinning progress *within* the church before many of us even recognized it as a danger.  This is the ideology of Critical Theory, or "wokeness," and it presents a unique set of challenges to believers who desire to follow Jesus and obey His word.  My guest, Neil Shenvi, is going to help us sort out the tangled web of wokeness in which we currently find ourselves, and get you equipped to navigate the ever-changing world of woke terminology and to respond to woke arguments biblically, lovingly and compellingly.  Neil Shenvi grew up in Delaware and attended Princeton University as an undergraduate before earning his PhD in Theoretical Chemistry at UC - Berkeley, where he became a Christian. From 2005-2010, Neil worked as a postdoctoral associate at Yale, where he did research into nonadiabatic dynamics, electron transfer, and surface science. Neil moved down to Durham in 2010 to do research into nonadiabatic dynamics and electronic structure theory at Duke University. Since 2015 Neil has been homeschooling his four children, although he still fiddle with quantum mechanics now and then for fun. Get the full show notes at https://thethink.institute/podcast.

SONS OF THUNDER: How to Pursue What Is Meaningful (Not Expedient) (Jordan Peterson's Rule 7)

Joel and Parker discuss Jordan Peterson's 8th Rule and how to pursue what truly matters vs. what "works." We find a lot to agree with in Dr. Peterson's ideas, but we also point out where the biblical worldview can fill in gaps and lay down a more reliable foundation.   Subscribe to our channel! WORLDVIEW WEDS: Don't Let The Fear of Persecution Silence Your Christian Witness

Have you ever wished you spoke up more for Jesus in your workplace, or found it easier to share your faith with your roommates? We've all felt that way, of course, but nowadays it seems like the stakes are higher than ever.  In the US, Christians who share biblical truth about certain "taboo" subjects face threats not only of social embarrassment but even job loss or worse. How should we respond, not only to the actual threat of persecution, but the fear that it could happen? The Bible has the answer, and on today's Worldview Wednesday episode with Joel and Pastor Raef, we're going to tell you what it is. Get the full show notes at https://thethink.institute/podcast.

THINKPOD: The Argument No Atheist Can Refute | Sye Ten Bruggencate

When someone challenges your faith in God, how do you respond? Do you cite historical evidence, provide scientific knowledge, or deliver philosophical arguments? What if there was an argument that no professing atheist could refute? Does that sound impossible? As it turns out, it is not impossible at all, and my guest is going to explain why.  My guest is Sye Ten Bruggencate. Sye left his work as a Stationary Engineer in the automotive industry to pursue teaching apologetics full-time. While he has engaged, and continues to engage professed unbelievers on the streets and in formal debates, Sye now directs his efforts mainly to equipping Christians to defend their faith. In April 2013 Sye released the film “How To Answer The Fool, and in February 2015 released the film  “Debating Dillahunty.” He has taught the subject throughout North America, and in the U.K. Sye is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and by God’s grace alone, he is a Christian.
