Why are we doing this? Answering the toughest question we've asked ourselves.

This week on the Colin and Samir podcast we ask ourselves one question - Why?Why do we do what we do every day? This conversation was inspired by a Ted Talk from Simon Sinek called Start with Why. We have been doing a lot of thinking around our purpose as creatives and trying to better understand our own personal reasons why we want to make videos for a living. In this episode, we record an open and honest conversation about our choice to work together and take on a challenging and time-intensive career path.I’m sure some of you have listened to Simon Sinek’s Ted Talk, but if you haven’t, definitely look it up on youtube - just type in Start with Why and it will come it - watch the 18 minute video, Colin and I liked it so much that we both ended up buying his book, Start with Why.  Let us know what you think about the episode and about Simon Sinek's talk, tweet at us @colinandsamir

Braxton is a filmmaker and YouTuber based in Oregon, he has a long history of working in entertainment, more specifically in television. He’s 18 years old but as you’ll hear on this podcast, he’s wise beyond his years. We met Braxton because he wrote an article about us, and it was so well written that we schedule a Skype call to learn more about him. On that call Braxton told us that if we ever needed help with anything, he’d fly out to LA and work with us…so a few weeks later Braxton landed in Los Angeles to help us with our new show, The Breakdown.Over the past two weeks, we’ve put out 2 episode of the show and learned a lot about the production process. But the most important part of the experience was getting to know Braxton and learning how to collaborate, which turned out to be a seamless process. He’s extremely talented, he's well spoken and we’re excited to introduce all of you to Braxton Haugen.Braxton's YouTube channel: YouTube.com/BraxtonHaugenBraxton's Twitter: https://twitter.com/BraxtonHaugen

Building a long lasting brand with Professional Lacrosse Player Kyle Harrison

This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we are really excited to have our good friend Kyle Harrison joining us. Kyle is a professional lacrosse player that Colin and I both looked up to when we were young lacrosse players. As most of you probably know, Colin and I both grew up playing lacrosse - and as we grew our first company, The Lacrosse Network, we actually got to make videos with Kyle and through that process, we became close friends.Something really interesting about our relationship is that Kyle was the catalyst to get us into vlogging. We cover a bunch of topics on this episode including how to manage your content as a professional athlete, How to build trust with someone you want to film (like we did with Kyle), balancing family life and brand building, Lebron vs MJ and Race issues in the sport of lacrosse. Now in this episode we definitely dive into some topics that are specific to lacrosse, but even if you’re not familiar with the sport I still think this conversation is valuable to anyone who is interested in content creation and brand building - Athletes have always fascinated us with their ability to build long-lasting brands and Kyle is someone who has been building his brand since before the age of social media.
