Some we love: The Seahawks becoming a most pass-heavy team and allowing themselves to #LetRussCook, the Bills cutting loose with play-action passes (tops in the NFL in Week 1!), Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Austin Ekeler being top-10 in RB routes run (breathe Ekeler managers, breathe), Diontae Johnson commanding targets in the Steelers receiving corps, and Gardner Minshew being almost perfect.There were some trends we hated too, though, like the bottom-five teams in early down success rate (yikes, Eagles), the results for Odell Beckham Jr., Nick Chubb, James Conner, Tom Brady, and Dallas’ offensive line.Next up, Matt and Dalton’s new segment titled “Who Got Shelled,” where they discuss a defense or defensive player who got absolutely shelled the prior week, then they’ll dive into the data and point out the defensive matchups you might want to take advantage of the following Sunday. In Week 1, whoever was guarding or trying to guard DeAndre Hopkins and Davante Adams definitely got shelled! Our pre-season pickups: Chris Thompson: With no Leonard Fournette to compete for touches, Thompson will be called on early and often to catch the ball out of the backfield. Preston Williams: With a narrow passing tree to battle for catches and early training-camp buzz, Williams could continue last year’s breakout. Darrel Williams: Even the second-string running back in Kansas City’s high-powered offense will be worthy of flex consideration, and what if CEH flops? Bryan Edwards: The rookie Raiders receiver will be called on early and often in the Vegas offense with Tyrell Williams hitting IR. Late-round Tight Ends: Chris Herndon, Blake Jarwin, Irv Smith, Ian Thomas, Jack Doyle could all provide top-5 TE value. New England Patriots win less than 8 games in 2020. Matthew Stafford leads the NFL in passing yards and is an MVP candidate. Derrick Henry doubles last year’s number and catches 40 passes Zack Moss is better than Devin Singletary CeeDee Lamb beats out either Amari Cooper or Michael Gallup to become Dallas’s second best fantasy receiver.
