Your (Modern) Morning Basket: Morning Time and “Us-schooling” (with Pam Barnhill)
Pam Barnhill is not only the Big Sister of Morning Time for many homeschooling families, but she’s also an author, podcaster, and homeschool speaker. Over the past couple years she’s also become my true friend! I was so tickled to be able to chat with her on this week’s Homeschool Conversations episode. We chatted about making homeschooling work for our individual families (that’s where “us-schooling” comes in) and we also talked about practical tips for integrating a Morning Basket into our homeschool day.

Strengthening Your Marriage During Hard Times (with Donna Westcott, LPC) Bonus Episode
Difficult circumstances bring new sets of challenges to even healthy marriages. We’re all facing a unique brand of hard times right now, but every marriage will experience periods of challenge and difficulty. But we don’t face these challenges alone. I’ve been thinking recently about the promise of Jesus:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The truths of the Gospel bring hope and perspective to our most difficult circumstances.
I’m joined today by Donna Westcott, the mother of one of my dear friends, a lover of Jesus, and a licensed professional counselor. Today we discussed ways to strengthen our marriages during hard times.
Donna has a lot of wisdom to share in this interview, and you’ll really want to hear her practical encouragement, all founded on our hope in Christ.

The Liberal Arts, Great Books, and Classical Christian Education (with Wes Callihan)
Back in the early days of online homeschool learning, I had the privilege of taking several liberal arts courses from Wes Callihan. Did your high school teachers recite the opening lines of the Iliad to you? From memory? In Greek? I bet not. No wonder his students love and respect Mr. C! When I began this Homeschool Conversations series, I knew I wanted to chat with Mr. Callihan and chat all things Great Books, Liberal Arts, Classical Christian Education, and more!

Sunday: Worship, Rest, and Gospel Hope (with Pastor Zachary Simmons) Bonus Episode
Bonus Episode! This interview was originally recorded in April 2020, right at the beginning of our experience with "Sequestered Sundays." I wondered: could we experience worship, rest, and joy...even while we were all staying home? But the thing that most struck me during this conversation? How we could basically have had this same conversation any other month of the year, stay at home orders or not! These are wise and helpful words for any Sunday situation. I hope it is an encouragement to you as you worship the Lord each week.
Today I'm joined by a very special guest, Pastor Zachary Simmons. Not only is Zachary a wise and compassionate pastor who loves Jesus, but he's also my favorite brother (ok, so he's my only brother).
I asked him to come speak to us today all about the Lord's Day: Why is Sunday unique and what's the point of setting it apart? How do we avoid zoning out and just consuming content while many of us are worshiping at home via screen (he actually had some things to say here that convicted me about the way I worship in my local physical church, too)? How can we still set Sunday apart, even if we aren't able to leave the house for corporate worship? Is rest even possible when all our kids are little? What about singles, widows, or those who worship alone? What are God's promises to us? And how can we as church members support and encourage our church leaders at this time?

Sibling Conflict and the Homeschooling Family (with Lynna Sutherland)
Sibling conflicts can be one of the most disheartening, difficult aspects of homeschooling (or even just parenting in general). What’s a mom to do when she feels like homeschooling is ruining the relationships in her home? How do we get to the heart of parenting issues in the midst of full, complicated lives? My friend Lynna Sutherland is here to share her wisdom and experience as a homeschool mom of 8!
There were so many gold nuggets in this conversation. I felt like I was getting my own personal therapy counseling session! I’ve typed up just the tip of the iceberg in the show notes.
