Rising Coaches Rewind: Brad Stevens, President of Basketball Operations, 2024 NBA Champion Boston Celtics
Brad Stevens is one of the best coaches in the basketball business. Coach Stevens has a short road of stops but an incredible background nonetheless, as he grew from an assistant role at Butler to being the Head Coach and ultimately one of the best Butler has seen during his 6 year head coaching stint, including 2 Horizon Coach of the Year awards, 2 Final Four appearances and 7 regular and tournament Horizon League championships in total. Following Butler, Stevens stepped into a role with the Boston Celtics as a head coach for 8 years and now serves as the current President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics, who recently won the 2024 NBA Championship.

Episode 71: Greg Oden, Director of Basketball Operations, Butler University
Greg Oden is a former NBA star and current Director of Basketball Operations at Butler University. Coach Oden was drafted as the number one overall pick in the NBA draft and one of the most dominant big men in his era following his strong collegiate career at Ohio State. Oden played 6 years in the NBA, including the Portland Trailblazers and Miami Heat, as well as one year in China. His coaching career would follow his playing career, which started at his alma mater, Ohio State. Oden started as a Graduate assistant and Student Coach, which would lead into his current position, as the DOBO at Butler University.

Episode 70: Randi Henderson, Women's Head Coach, Washington University in St. Louis
Randi Henderson is a strong Division 3 coach who is currently the Head Women’s Coach at Washington University in St. Louis. Coach Henderson has been in various roles at schools such as Athens High School, Minnesota Morris, Coe College and currently Washington University in St. Louis. She has been a head coach for 17 years holding a 274-156 overall record with a 64% win ratio and has led her teams to 6 NCAA appearances. Henderson has made a large impact at every school she has coached while achieving national accolades not only on in-game team statistics but also breaking school records at various places. We are excited to learn more from such a great coach.

Episode 69: Jimmie Oakman, Assistant Coach, Grand Rapids Gold
Jimmie Oakman is a pivotal member in the Rising Coaches community and the current Assistant Coach for the Grand Rapids Gold. Coach Oakman started his coaching career at Amherst High School while working his way up the ranks at a variety of stops including various roles at Daniel Webster College, Boston University, Long Island Nets, College Park Skyhawks, Australian Men’s National Team, and the Grand Rapids Gold. Oakman has played a major role with the Gold, as he runs their offense and opponents scouting. We look forward to learning more in these areas from him.

Episode 68: Jack Stevens, Assistant Coach, The College of Wooster
Jack Stevens is the current assistant basketball coach at The College of Wooster and a high level player development coach. Coach Stevens has worked with players from 19 different Division 1 conferences as well as a variety of players from the NBA, G League and overseas leagues. He also has helped propel a strong Division 3 program in Wooster to a 126-49 win record in his 7 years there, including a Conference Title and 3 NCAA appearances.

Episode 67: Jon Harris, Assistant Video Coordinator, San Antonio Spurs
Jon Harris is the current Assistant Video Coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs. Jon is a young coach with an impressive resume, having a 7 year professional playing career including the G League and in countries such as Argentina, Germany, China and Canada. Following his playing career, Jon worked with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers to help with summer league and youth camps, and started his first coaching gig at Lakewood High School. Making a quick rise to Florida State University as a Graduate Assistant and then the Assistant Video Coordinator with the Spurs. We look forward to learning more about such a prestigious program such as the Spurs.

Episode 66: Andrew Van Craenenbroeck, Vice President of BS Hoops Analytics
Andrew Van Craenenbroeck is a current Rising Coaches Member and Vice President of BS Hoops Analytics. Andrew has had multiple positions at high caliber basketball universities in various roles with North Dakota State and Lincoln Memorial University. Andrew now helps out with various teams in conferences such as Power 5 D1 all the way to small high schools. They have also done work with pro teams in Africa and Australia.

Raphael Chillious is a former collegiate and current Head Coach at South Kent High School. Coach Chillious started at West Nottingham and South Kent before working at Nike, which led him into assistant roles at Villanova, Washington University, Connecticut, East Carolina and now as the Prep Head Coach back at South Kent. Chillious has coached 17 players to make an NBA roster and has coached alongside and learned from some great coaching minds.

William Twigg is the current Academy Coach for the London Lions and Youth National Team Head Coach in the United Kingdom. Coach Twigg is a young coach on the rise as he has worked with a variety of D1 and NBA basketball camps in the USA, while also holding stints as a very successful head coach for a variety of youth programs in the UK. We are excited to learn more about international basketball and some ways coaches can connect with international coaches.
