Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce researcher Robert Bitto of Mexico Unexplained! He explores all sorts of strange occurrences in that country through the ages, ranging from UFOs, including a possible crash in 1949, to monsters and such as cryptids, strange ancient artifacts of unknown origin, and even a possible instance or two of teleportation that involve a mysterious journey from one location in one country, to another and lots of other reports of strange phenomena. His site also includes reports of giants and possible werewolves. Bitto has had over 30 years of experience in Mexico, as a student, as an employee for a large multinational corporation and as an owner of an imports business founded in 1999, Sueños Latin American Imports. He was a professional researcher from 1990 to 1993, and in addition to his MBA and MA, he holds an MBA in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico. Gene and cohost Tim Swartz talk about the legends and reality behind so-called giants over the years with researcher Travis Roy. According to Roy, giants roamed America in the ancient past, building fortifications and erecting massive burial and temple worship mounds. In actuality, he says, this race of titans roamed the earth, leaving their esteemed deceased within tumuli of earth and stone. Their handiwork can still be seen across the globe. Current history texts attribute a more-modern native approach to be the builders of such works (stone and dirt pyramids, Easter island heads, megalithic monuments etc.), but Roy speculates that another race is responsible. He states that their bones have been discovered by archaeologists and anthropologists of the not-too-distant past. Newspapers once reported the findings of these skeletons. From 1850-1940 they constantly made the news. But then they suddenly stopped. Why? Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present Canadian UFO researcher/scientist Chris Rutkowski, who has has long been one of our favorite guests on The Paracast. He is a science writer who has devoted much time to investigating and studying reports of UFOs, writing about case investigations, and offering his insights into the broad UFO phenomenon. Rutkowski says that he was always interested in offbeat things and in 1975 there was a rash of UFO sightings in Manitoba that he began investigating. He says, "I went out with friends and one day I started writing up what I had heard from some of the people that had seen things. I had the article published and soon I was getting requests for more articles and more comments and to give lectures, and pretty soon I was the great UFO expert." About his book, he tells us: "In 1999 my family and I was fortunate to have a very close encounter with a Triangular craft not of this world. A retired Air Force Reserve Officer with over 25 years of service, he has been investigating and exploring the paranormal for close to 10 years now and got involved to discover for himself if there really is life after death. In the first year into his journey, he got his answer. He is the author of the new book, “Walking in the Shadows of Strangers.” For over five years, he has hosted the Passion for the Paranormal Podcast. In his book, he documents his experiences at over 20 haunted locations across four states in the Western US. Several of his experiences in these locations were very compelling and even creepy and unsettling.
