June 29, 2025 — Paranormal Researcher Fred Andersson
Gene and cohost Tim Swartz feature Fred Andersson, a renowned researcher, television freelancer, author, and podcaster from Sweden. With a focus on high strangeness, the paranormal, and UFOs, he has carved a niche for himself as an out-of-the-box thinker and explorer of the weird. In 2023 “Northern Lights: High Strangeness in Sweden,” was published, which is the first book written in English entirely devoted to the subject of high strangeness, UFOs, and other mysteries in Sweden. Fred has worked on UFO-Mysteriet, the first Swedish documentary series on the UFO phenomenon, and, in the fall of 2025, will see the release of a new series about hauntings and other strange things around in Sweden. He's currently researching conspiracy theories for an upcoming television project and is researching a unique form of historical ghostly mass hysteria. While Sweden is known as a secular, rational country, where stories of the paranormal are considered something of the past, the truth is quite the opposite. According to Fred, the country has a long history of weirdness, unexplained observations, and eerie encounters, often connected to the countryside, desolate roads, and empty fields. From gnomes, elves, and trolls of the past to UFOs and aliens in modern times, are they perhaps all connected, just different perceptions of the same underlying phenomenon? And what about sightings of purported werewolves? June 22, 2025 — Larry Arnold: Spontaneous Human Combustion
After 19 years, paranormal researcher Larry Arnold returns to talk with Gene and cohost Tim Swartz about the strange and frightening phenomenon of spontaneous human combustion (SHC). He is regarded by many as the world’s expert on SHC, but others regard him as a “mystery monger” and “world-class fool.” After leaving Lafayette College and a brief career in electrical engineering, Arnold founded PSI: ParaScience International in 1976 to pursue the exploration of Fortean anomalies and consciousness. His controversial article published in August 1978, titled “Meltdown…at TMI-2,” would 8 months later be termed “uncannily accurate” by The Philadelphia Inquirer in presaging the future of that nuclear power plant’s “impossible” Class IX meltdown near his home. The tragedy was best known as Three Mile Island. This discussion will cover both the nuclear incident and his 1995 classic title, “Ablaze!” This large book contains hundreds of unbelievable examples of The Fire Within, culled from long-forgotten obscure medical journals and never-before-published interviews with witnesses to the impossible. Arnold has been a guest on hundreds of radio and internet-radio programs and a number of radio and TV shows that include provocative radio host Howard Stern. He has also delivered lectures at a number of colleges and universities. His “unofficial” website is www.ParaScience.com. Caution: This episode has graphic descriptions of episodes of spontaneous human combustion.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-paracast-the-gold-standard-of-paranormal-radio--6203433/support.

He published his first (and best-known) book, Chariots of the Gods, in 1968. In the 1960s, David Halperin was a teen-age UFOlogist. He grew up to become a professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with special expertise in religious traditions of heavenly ascent and otherworldly journeys. He is the author of five books and numerous articles on Jewish mysticism and messianism, and a novel, 'Journal of a UFO Investigator."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-paracast-the-gold-standard-of-paranormal-radio--6203433/support.

June 15, 2025 — Award-winning UFO Historian Jerome Clark
Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present a very special episode featuring UFO historian Jerome Clark. Among the topics to be discussed, the recent controversial article from the Wall Street Journal claiming many UFO events are really based on government disinformation. Also on the agenda: his career as a music lyricist. Jerome is the prize-winning author of more than a dozen books, including Hidden Realms, Lost Civilizations, and Beings from Other Worlds; Strange Skies: Pilot Encounters with UFOs; the multi-volume UFO Encyclopedia; and Unnatural Phenomena. He serves on the board of the J. Allen Center for UFO Studies and is the co-editor of its magazine, International UFO Reporter. In 2008, Jerome received the Dinsdale Award given by the Society of Scientific Exploration for significant contributions to the expansion of human understanding through the study of unexplained phenomena. He has been featured in such television programs as the 1997 A&E Network documentary "Where Are All the UFOs?," which examined the history of the UFO phenomenon. In 2005, he discussed the early history of the U.S. Military's UFO investigations on the prime-time special, "Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs — Seeing Is Believing." In addition to the Peter Jennings special, Clark has also appeared on episodes of NBC's Unsolved Mysteries television series and on the syndicated television series Sightings.
