An Evening with Elvira
Big month for Cassandra Peterson. She's celebrated her birthday, she's released her new memoir Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark, and now she's hosting a 40th anniversary special on Shudder that's aptly titled, Elvira’s 40th Anniversary, Very Scary, Very Special Special. To celebrate, the Halloweenies are dusting off this career retrospective interview with the legend from 2020 in which she digresses on everything from being a household name, to why the horror genre brings her so much comfort, to how she passed the time during the worst of the pandemic. It's an admittedly unpredictable conversation that celebrates a legitimate pop culture icon. Enjoy.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Patreon Hosted on Acast. Basic Instinct (1992) - Randy's Recs
After surviving the Hollywood horrors within Scream 3, the Halloweenies are heading upstate to San Francisco to solve a string of murderers. Make no mistake, these are grisly crimes, sure, but they're also familiar, especially for readers of crime novelist Catherine Tramell. You guessed it: For September, the gang taking an ice pick to Paul Verhoeven's 1992 erotic thriller Basic Instinct as part of this season's ensuing Randy's Recs series. Together, they discuss the smutty film's curious parallels to Wes Craven's meta franchise, the myriad controversies that surrounded the 1992 thriller, the behind-the-scenes chaos that would go on to fuel the film, the sexual fluidity (or lack thereof) of Michael Douglas, and the blockbuster sex appeal of Sharon Stone. Special guest includes Meagan Navarro.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Scream 3 (2000) Pt. 2
Production has resumed on the Halloweenies coverage of 2000's Scream 3. Finish your sandwich at the craft services table and hit the Woodsboro set with Justin Gerber, Mike Vanderbilt, Michael Roffman, and special guest Jenn Adams of Psychoanalysis: A Horror Therapy Podcast. In the second of two episodes dedicated to the would-be trilogy capper, they share their thoughts on the "B-listers" that make up Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro, learn a thing or two about Fantasy II Film Effects, chew into the themes associated with Sidney's arc, and rewrite the ending (to potentially better results). Once again, this episode is 100% cotton, so make sure you're not allergic, and start streaming.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Patreon Hosted on Acast. The Halloweenies have arrived in Hollywood, where it's lights, camera, and ... stab! Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro, to be more specific. Head to the craft services table with Justin Gerber, Mike Vanderbilt, Michael Roffman, and special guest Jenn Adams of Psychoanalysis: A Horror Therapy Podcast as they gab about Ghostface. In the first of two episodes dedicated to the would-be trilogy capper, they discuss the film's behind-the-scenes shakeups, the Columbine effect, the parody paradox, and how the Creed-produced nu-metal soundtrack can be traced back to Woodstock '99.
