Episode 55: David Seymour (ACT party leader)

David Seymour is probably most famous for two things- being the leader of the Act party for almost a decade. And twerking in lycra on DWTS!We talk about his relationship with other politicians including Jacinda Ardern and Winston Peters. We talk about the death of his mum to cancer in his early 20 and why he has never watched the DVD she made for him in her final weeks, his whole DWTS experience, all the strange little moments he has gone viral for, his relationship with alcohol and how drunk was he really at the last election night?I understand politics is a murky area. So polarising. Episode 54: Dame Lisa Carrington

Dame Lisa Carrington is possibly the most esteemed guest on the podcast so far. Not only the very first Dame but also the greatest NZ Olympian of all time with 5 gold medals and hundreds of other accolades to her name. This is such a cool conversation. We see Lisa on TV, usually smiling on the podium with a gold medal around her neck followed by a 30-second sound bite on the news. But I have never heard Lisa be this candid before. Ever. This is a true look into the mind of a world-class athlete. You’ll get to know her strengths, weaknesses, flaws, fears, insecurities, and everything in between.I always thought she was a good role model. Now I know for certain that she is!Thanks to my friends at Radix Nutrition for getting in behind this episode. Ask for Radix wherever you buy your supplements from, and if they don’t stock it, let them know they should! Episode 51: Shane Cameron

Shane Cameron is one of New Zealands best known boxers. He is now a sucessful businessman.Shane and I sat down for this podcast way back in January. Long before the podcast “Runners Only!” even launched. Being on the cusp of being an actual boomer, I lost this entire audio file and some others…or so I thought. They turned up the other day on an SD card (long born story).Shane’s a good dude and I forgot how enjoyable our conversation was. We talk in depth about the “fight of the century” against David Tua (and how long it took him to recover mentally from the beating), Dancing with the stars, life before and after boxing, the Commonwealth games, and heaps more. Please “subscribe” if your podcast platform allows it, and it’ll be on your phone on Monday morning when you wake up.Here is the you tube link to THAT fight against David Tua which we discuss in detail:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IweZbGWpMc Hosted on Acast. Bite size: Rachel Maia.

This “bite size” podcast episode comes from my full conversation with Rachel Maia. If you like this snippet, feel free to listen to her whole remarkable story when you have a spare hour.Rach is mum of three from Whanganui. She is also one of the best lower limb amputee para-climber in the world. Hell of a story. She only got the leg amputated 3 years ago after sucking up a lifetime of pain from a climbing wall injury she suffered in her teens. In 2019, Rach made the decision to amputate below her left knee. Here is a link to the “Attitude” TV segment that Rachel mentions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQhLuEMap3w Hosted on Acast.
