Methylene Blue is the newest craze sweeping the both the MAHA movement and alternative media/conspiracy land. While MAHA moves to ban food dyes, an overall good decision that lags decades behind the rest of civilization, it simultaneously has adopted this peculiar dye as an energy booster and magic potion. Developed as a textile dye in 1876 by German chemist Heinrich Caro, BASF is its parent chemical company. In simple terms, the same movement banning dyes while drinking dye is the same movement opposing chemical companies while demanding more methylene blue from chemical companies. There is a close parallel here to the - understandably - anti-Prizer-vaccine movement which simultaneously adopted ivermectin - manufactured by Pfizer. Yes, Methylene Blue has certain medicinal properties outside of its textile or laboratory use, first and foremost as a sort of antidote for methemoglobinemia - it can help restore the oxygen carrying capacity of red blood cells. Tyranny is the most common form of government throughout human history, with liberty a small flame kept burning by the very few who face assault from the ignorant oppressed as much as by their oppressors. The 2025 Osaka Expo is being held in that city from April 13 to October 13 of the same year. Although construction of the facilities, including the now world’s largest wooden structure termed the “Grand Ring,” began in late 2021, planning for the event dates back to 2017 and 2018, when the city bid was submitted and later when it was approved. What’s really incredible is the site was built on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay. Like many world expos there is an emphasis on new technologies as well as cultural understanding. This particular expo features AI, “sustainable” technology, and new forms of cashless payment systems, things that would have been fantasy to people in 1890s. However, the electric lights, ferris wheel, and technology of the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, although fantastic to the 27 million people who attended, are nothing but background noise in the 21st-century. The same will be said of technology at the Osaka Expo in one hundred years. The Chicago version was larger by almost double the size of square miles - 0.6 vs 1.07. But the size of the Osaka fair is limited not only because of its location, but due to the fact that it was designed by Japanese architects and is intended to emphasize sustainability and smaller more simpler designs - things that are very Japanese to begin with. Yet there are few things about the expo that are different from the 1893 Chicago World Fair.In context, the Osaka Expo might help one to understand the Chicago version, or the various other similar fairs held around the world in that time period. Despite conspiracy theorists saying that the Chicago expo was built in 2 years and then destroyed, the facts are contrary to this. Preparation and some limited construction began within the decade previous, even before the bid was approved in 1890 and the fair opened in 1893. The surface level construction took between two and three years, about the same timeframe Osakas’s fair was built, and the modern Museum of Science is a remnant of one of those Chicago buildings. Even if all buildings were destroyed or repurposed there is still an assumption about the reasoning for such a thing to happen. Consider the immense amount of money and time spent on the bid and construction of an Olympic coliseum for a two week event in a major city. Then there is the eastern philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which talks about the beauty of impermanence or certain perceived flaws. In the United States there is a heated debate about banning Sharia Law, yet a hidden debate about imposing the Noahide Laws. Both would be a violation of the First Amendment, the latter restricting freedom of prayer and fasting, the former imposing mandatory adherence to another religious doctrine where failure to do so results in prosecution. The scientific method involves observation, questioning, forming hypotheses, testing predictions and altering theories to align with results; it is not the altering of results to align with a hypothesis.  There are three acceptable narratives about COVID-19: a wet mart (official), 5G (conspiracy), and laboratory leak (alternative). When defining what caused these other symptoms, we know recategorized pneumonia was one. NASA and Oxford computer models reportedly have proven, with use of Biblical references, that Jesus died on Friday, April 3, 33AD. Of course there is no way to confirm the literal resurrection story. Regardless, the idea is that we can use modern technology to peer into the past as if we have a looking glass into time. Every Easter there is a general celebration of both nature and the resurrection of the savior Jesus. He is brought back in church services, households, and communities across the Christian and non-christian world alike. We do the same thing with artists, authors, and musicians. A new exhibition in Australia is now featuring a performance of music from a lab-grown brain made from the dead composer Alvin Lucien’s blood. This is a step up from using AI to complete Beethoven’s unfinished work or using the same to produce new albums of the Beatles. It is also a step up from using holograms and AI to present Elvis or Tupac at concerts. In essence, Lucien’s blood was able to provide him everlasting life - immortality. This can also be done with simple voice mirroring. One of the most controversial memes right now involves Studio Ghibli, the legendary Japanese anime producer, which is watching its iconic hand produced art be reproduced by anyone with an Internet connection, and a picture, in seconds with AI. There is even talk now that lawsuits may start flying out of Japan. But all art, music, etc., when an artist or composer dies, transcends time and becomes the voice of a ghost in the public space and time. The same stands true for the 1972 and 1973 Pioneer missions, which hold the Golden Record. Even the games we played as a kid teleport us back to those states when played as adults. The immortality of human civilization is guaranteed likewise by the endless broadcasts into space of movies, shows, music, speeches, and so on. We already know AI can generate fake audio and video, which could have a potentially devastating strike on any free elections and even grass roots movements, but AI has also been used to create fake images of giants, aliens, and cryptids, which has prompted the Loch Ness Center to draft experts to sort through the images. The central issue here is not so much about the nature of what is real or not in the age of AI, but how history helps us understand the present and future, and how modern technology - the future from the vantage point of the past - can be used to help us understand history.
