Since at least 2019 the United Nations has tried to justify banning anime and manga due to what they consider to be potentially obscene depictions of sexual material related to children. This has failed miserably in the US, Japan, and Australia. In Texas a new bill seeks to do the same, though Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition will likely rule it to be unconstitutional regardless. It’s strange that a product like anime or manga, admittedly open for interpretation - the characters are often part cat or animal, are hyper exaggerated, or are based on kawaii culture - would be targeted instead of actual pornography or actual sex trafficking operations. At least in terms of the publicity and priority. Perhaps the priority is based on something else, like certain groups claiming that such content, including game versions, promotes racial homogeneity and marriage norms. And there it is! While the United States admits it has the ability to “manipulate time and space,” the country still can’t seem to pick up trash, clean subways, build high speed transportation, or fix infrastructure, let alone create anything new. In fact, the implication of scientific-fiction technology from the White House Science adviser might explain where the trillions of missing US dollars go. The thing is the United States maintains its power in the world through fear of war and economics, and by banning and censoring the outside, like China does. The country has lost any moral high ground and certainly any real essence of culture. Perhaps that’s why anime and manga are growing so rapidly in the United States. It’s something unique, different, fresh, and certainly not politically correct. Once again, priorities, because instead of building better cars, trains, infrastructure or even good entertainment, the country sabotages all of that and wastes its money on weapons and war. Even the Internet and GPS, two major contributions from the USA to the world, were invented by DARPA and the DOD - for killing and control. This power, and the power of politics, like Oregon cancelling math and reading requirements for graduation, also keeps the citizens in the dark of an antiquated reality. Much of the technology the country does have doesn’t come from American minds anyways, it comes from Asia and largely from Israel. The county that gives us anime and manga, which is one of the least politically correct in the world, and one of the most conservative, also gives us QR codes, emojis, plastic that dissolves with no microplastics, tornado prediction software that is accurate, super advanced solar panels, bullet trains since 1964, hybrid cars since 1997, laptops, portable music, the novel, navigation systems, and most discs like DVD and CD. It is also a country that when there is widespread technological failure, citizens still voluntarily pay there toll fees because the money actually goes into infrastructure, and because it is a culture of honor and respect. On the other hand, the US state of California has blown through $15.7-billion and failed at constructing a high-speed rail in 2025. Methylene Blue is the newest craze sweeping the both the MAHA movement and alternative media/conspiracy land. While MAHA moves to ban food dyes, an overall good decision that lags decades behind the rest of civilization, it simultaneously has adopted this peculiar dye as an energy booster and magic potion. Developed as a textile dye in 1876 by German chemist Heinrich Caro, BASF is its parent chemical company. In simple terms, the same movement banning dyes while drinking dye is the same movement opposing chemical companies while demanding more methylene blue from chemical companies. There is a close parallel here to the - understandably - anti-Prizer-vaccine movement which simultaneously adopted ivermectin - manufactured by Pfizer. Yes, Methylene Blue has certain medicinal properties outside of its textile or laboratory use, first and foremost as a sort of antidote for methemoglobinemia - it can help restore the oxygen carrying capacity of red blood cells. But this is upon specific administration and a specific dose. Too much can actually cause methemoglobinemia. Yes, it can boost energy, but so can cocaine and energy drinks. Tyranny is the most common form of government throughout human history, with liberty a small flame kept burning by the very few who face assault from the ignorant oppressed as much as by their oppressors. Throughout most of this history it is the moral corruption not merely of leadership, but of the people which guarantees said tyranny. There is real danger in the justifications given for violations of fundamental civil liberties - that we can protect our rights by limiting or stripping them, or by giving special protections to one group over another. When one party wishes to fight opposing tyranny the natural reaction is to conduct their politics in like manner or take another step over the line of law. The 2025 Osaka Expo is being held in that city from April 13 to October 13 of the same year. Although construction of the facilities, including the now world’s largest wooden structure termed the “Grand Ring,” began in late 2021, planning for the event dates back to 2017 and 2018, when the city bid was submitted and later when it was approved. What’s really incredible is the site was built on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay. Like many world expos there is an emphasis on new technologies as well as cultural understanding. This particular expo features AI, “sustainable” technology, and new forms of cashless payment systems, things that would have been fantasy to people in 1890s. However, the electric lights, ferris wheel, and technology of the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, although fantastic to the 27 million people who attended, are nothing but background noise in the 21st-century. The same will be said of technology at the Osaka Expo in one hundred years. The Chicago version was larger by almost double the size of square miles - 0.6 vs 1.07. But the size of the Osaka fair is limited not only because of its location, but due to the fact that it was designed by Japanese architects and is intended to emphasize sustainability and smaller more simpler designs - things that are very Japanese to begin with. Yet there are few things about the expo that are different from the 1893 Chicago World Fair.In context, the Osaka Expo might help one to understand the Chicago version, or the various other similar fairs held around the world in that time period. Despite conspiracy theorists saying that the Chicago expo was built in 2 years and then destroyed, the facts are contrary to this. Preparation and some limited construction began within the decade previous, even before the bid was approved in 1890 and the fair opened in 1893. The surface level construction took between two and three years, about the same timeframe Osakas’s fair was built, and the modern Museum of Science is a remnant of one of those Chicago buildings. Even if all buildings were destroyed or repurposed there is still an assumption about the reasoning for such a thing to happen. Consider the immense amount of money and time spent on the bid and construction of an Olympic coliseum for a two week event in a major city. Then there is the eastern philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which talks about the beauty of impermanence or certain perceived flaws. In Japan this is part of the reason that the Ise Jingu Grand Shrine of the Sun Goddess, with its beautiful wooden designs, is torn down every 20 years and rebuilt.  The idea that the Chicago World’s Fair was part of some lost empire is based on assumptions about technology and history and time periods, uncontrolled speculation, and a basic lack of historical and modern context, not to mention click-bait, clout-chasing, and cash-grabbing fantasy. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. In the United States there is a heated debate about banning Sharia Law, yet a hidden debate about imposing the Noahide Laws. Both would be a violation of the First Amendment, the latter restricting freedom of prayer and fasting, the former imposing mandatory adherence to another religious doctrine where failure to do so results in prosecution. The western perspective on Islam is incredibly flawed and encouraged by bigotry, war mongers, and religious zealots. That's not to say the same is not true for the inverse. Religions that preach war, conquest, superiority of genetic qualities, etc., are not religions in the sense of being bound to God, but instead death cults that won't rest until everyone is dead.
