6 Gospel Keys to Praying Like Jesus

Why Jesus always saw prayer with our Father as a relational practice.
The 6 movements or “petitions” of the Lord’s Prayer.
Specific (HUGE) gospel connections to each of these 6 movements.

Why do we fear rejection and oftentimes feel like weirdos when we try to talk about spiritual topics or even come close to 'sharing our faith'?
In this episode, Caesar and Heath discuss the most common reasons people get scared and fearful when talking about spirituality. We'll also give 3 Quick Tips that you can use to change that forever.
Does This Sound Like You (ever)?

I tried in the past and it never ended well.
I hated friends trying to “jam their religion down my throat” before I was a Christian.
I’m worried that I might ruin my friendships if I bring up Jesus or spiritual things.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
What is at the root of our fears and relational weirdness
3 Quick Tips to beat the fear of rejection
Top reasons people seem so hesitant to talk about spiritual things
Why it's important to take a much longer view of “evangelism”

Why Jesus Wants Us to Stop Going to Church
Jesus never told his disciples (us Christians) to go to church. He never commanded us to put on big worship services and lots of programs. Instead, he called us to believe our true identity and be the church.
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar and Heath discuss how language creates culture, and how bad language leads to bad theology and bad practice.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
Why it’s impossible to actually "go to church".
How our American dream world and schedule make it really hard to live the life Jesus wants for us.
How many non-Christian friends we have shows us whether we are living like Jesus.
Why life lived in community with others is the only way discipleship truly happens.
Get started here…
From this episode:
"Understanding who God says we are, and what is now true of us, will set you free from performance-based Christianity. The pressure is off! It really is possible to move toward living in a close community of friends (believers and not-yet believers) who are on a spiritual adventure and becoming more like Jesus. This is what true discipleship looks like."

Making Guests Feel Like Family
Guests never do any work or preparation; family members always pitch in. We try and impress guests with our hospitality; family members expect to be “part of the flow” and help themselves to whatever they need. Are you treating people like guests or like family?
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we ask the question: do the people coming to your church service each week, and the folks coming into your home, feel more like guests or like part of the family? Caesar is joined by his wife, Tina, to share how and why you can help everyone feel like true brothers and sisters.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
Why treating everyone like family is a picture of the Gospel.
What people really need… and it’s NOT your perfectly clean house.
How our Sunday services can help people feel like family rather than visitors or guests.
How our language reveals our true heart and intentions in all of this.
Get started here…
From this episode:
"Helping others feel like part of a family, rather than guests to a program, is the key to really experiencing the gospel in action. Whether at home or at a church service, it is important to remember: these people are your brothers and sisters. Do they feel like they are at home and are needed?"

Beyond Judgment: Radically Accepting Sinners
Often we let others' sins define them and divide us. But our ongoing involvement and relationships, especially with those we think of as "sinners", begin with our own profound grasp of God’s grace.
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we'll see why Jesus came to be called a friend of sinners. And I'll share the journey we've been on to earn that same moniker for ourselves as we make disciples where we live.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
The #1 thing we have in common with everyone else in life.
How to know if you're a "clean" sinner or a "dirty" sinner.
Why Jesus hung out with the outsiders and why we want to as well.
How I came to be known as the Pub Pastor. 😄
Get started here...
From this episode:
"Christians will cite John 15:14 ('You are my friends if you do what I command.') as their justification for not wanting to hang out with those they see as "sinners". What a horrible example of proof-texting! The entire passage there has Jesus explaining how he loved his disciples and chose them while they were still jacked up and far from God. Can you imagine a parent saying that to their kids, "You are only my child when you obey me, otherwise, I don’t love you." What? That would be crazy! That is the exact opposite of the heart of our Father and his son Jesus."

Cigars, Theology & Discipleship
To disciple someone in all aspects of life requires a deliberate level of intentionality. It is essential to engage in everyday activities together and integrate discipleship and training into these ordinary moments.
This week on the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk about a form of discipleship that includes cigars, fireplaces, and maybe an occasional glass of fine spirits. Some of you will LOVE this… some will be freaked out!
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
A little about the environment that Jesus discipled in. (Hint: it was never a classroom.)
Why it’s vital to disciple and model the gospel in normal rhythms of life.
Caesar and Heath’s personal experience and model for doing “Cigars & Theology” as a part of their community life and discipleship.
Alternatives that may work better in your church and context.
Get started here...
From this episode:
“The Good News is just as good (and sometimes better) experienced with a cold beverage and friends. Don’t think that God somehow looks down on your efforts of discipleship if they are not done in a church building. Your old school board members may, but God does not. Jesus went into all the places participating in the customs that the people he loved did. You can too... it’s okay.”

Go after the heart and a deeper relational connection. Make sure everyone has a role and participates. Have lots of fun and laughter! Make these special dinner nights a time where 'grace' is the watchword for all that you do and experience together."

Rabbit Colonies and Trojan Elephants w/ Dan Grider
Imagine having two pairs of animals—a pair of rabbits and a pair of elephants. Both male and female. After 36 months, you'll have three elephants due to their lengthy gestation period. However, during the same period, the rabbit population would multiply into the millions. The contrast lies in the reproductive nature of rabbits, which is rapid, while elephants take a significantly longer time to reproduce.
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar and Dan Grider delve into the implications of the Church adopting a rabbit colony mentality versus a Trojan elephant approach. This insightful discussion carries significant implications for all of us.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
Whether your church is a "rabbit colony" or a "Trojan elephant".
Which model Jesus initiated for disciple-making.
Why many 'micro-churches' still function with elephant DNA.
How relationships of trust are built that lead to new disciples.
Get started here…
From this episode:
“I think one of the challenges the American church is dealing with is a lot of churches have elephant DNA regardless of their size. I've seen organic, missional communities that meet in a microbrewery, and they're smoking cigars, and they're talking about Jesus, but they still have much more of an elephant DNA than they really realize.”

Advent Week 4: We Can Experience Love Because God is Gracious
A recent survey asked, "If you could say in one word what you want more of in life, what would that be?" Very surprisingly, LOVE didn't even make the top 10! Could it be that money and fleeting happiness have replaced the need for love in our lives?
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar concludes the Advent Series as he talks about the truth that because God is gracious, we can experience love in the deepest ways.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
The final look at 4 eternal truths about God that transform us. (The 4 G's)
Why we don’t know or understand true love in our lives and relationships.
How we no longer have to perform for God, and why we don’t get to.
Why it's important to understand what we actually deserve from God.
Get started here…
From this episode:
“When we don’t believe we have God’s grace, we try to prove ourselves to other people. I want other people to be impressed by me. We may want to fit in or get other people’s approval. I want to earn their love. And we certainly don’t want other people finding out what we’re like inside. We wear masks to hide our real selves from people. Wearing the mask can be a great strain: it’s like acting a role all the time. But we dare not let other people see us as we really are.”

Advent Week 3: God Is Good So We Can Find Joy In Our Life
For hundreds of years, the church has anticipated the coming of Jesus during the season of Advent. Into this space, this void, the angels announced to the shepherds the good news of Jesus that would bring great joy to all people.
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar continues the Advent Series as he looks at the truth that God is good so we can find satisfaction and joy. Believing that God always does what is good, right, and perfect will change how you view everything and everyone in your life!
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
The third of four eternal truths about God that transforms us. (The 4 G's)
Why we search for satisfaction and joy to fill the "hunger" in our lives.
How Jesus is the better fulfillment of all your hunger and lack of joy!
How to find the unbelief and actions that are keeping you from finding joy.
Get started here…
From this episode:
“God created us with hunger for our own Good. God isn’t manipulating us, but sustaining us – keeping us alive. The very fact that we are the ‘created’ and He is the ‘Creator’ proves that we need him – we wouldn’t exist without him – He is the source of all life. God is the greatest and most glorious being that exists, and he created us as an expression of who he is. Our hunger is a continual reminder that this is all about him and not us – our ongoing need reminds us that God is the one we turn to for life.”
