Dealing With Limiting Beliefs About Discipleship And Mission

As Christians, we most often use the word “belief” in connection to our faith and the Bible, but we also have beliefs that shape our lives connected to pretty much every action or inaction in life. Sometimes these beliefs can limit our potential. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we'll talk about how you can identify and replace your limiting beliefs about discipleship and mission. It's time to start moving forward! In This Episode You’ll Learn: How to recognize and name any limiting beliefs you have. How to identify excuses or perceived barriers that keep you stuck. Ways to explore your unmet spiritual desires. Who you need to spend more time with to promote the changes you want. Get started here… From this episode: "God’s desire is that you would live with spiritual freedom and relational peace. This is what Jesus came to model for us and then commanded his disciples (that’s us today) to go and live the same way, making more disciples. He has placed his own Holy Spirit within in you and not given you a spirit of fear or limitations. Don’t let your limiting beliefs or fears or dead traditions stop you from embracing the life that Jesus died to give you." Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. How to Share Your Faith Without Being Weird

If you’re like most people I know, you probably don’t share your faith all that often. It can feel creepy or just plain awkward, and there’s always that fear of rejection. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk about how to share your faith without being weird and how your “good news” can actually sound like good news to people. (Really.) If you’re not sure how to share your faith with others, or just afraid to get started, this episode will unlock your heart and light a new path for you. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Something we all have in common that is a giant “aha!” when it comes to sharing your faith. Why resting in the reality of God’s love for you is the starting point. A way to flip the usual conversation about God and religion upside down. How the Good News can actually sound like good news to folks. Get started here... From this episode... "You have never looked into the face of another person who is not an image-bearer of God. No matter how broken, filthy, addicted, violent, or confused someone may seem—God’s image is never completely marred or removed from them. (Nor from you, for that matter.) With a little practice and faith, you can learn how to simply, yet powerfully, “notice” that in others."   Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. How To Parent With Grace [Not Fear or Control]

Our relationship with God directly feeds into how we see our role as a parent. If we have a flawed theology regarding who God is and how he sees us, it creates a chain reaction of flawed decisions and actions in how we parent our children. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we look at a few radically different parenting styles. We’ll reveal that while you might be well-intentioned, your parenting style may not be producing the type of outcomes in your children’s life and heart that you ultimately desire. In This Episode You’ll Learn: If you might be the “judgemental parent” or “legalistic parent” type. Several parenting styles that commonly flow from a flawed theology of God. How to develop a grace-based parenting style for life. The 4 key “freedoms” that all parents need to give their children. Get started here... From this episode: "God loves you the same regardless of how well or poorly you have been parenting so far. There is no condemnation from him towards you. You have his love and grace. He desires that you know him more and live and parent out of your relationship with him." Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. How to Stop Taking Everything Personally

When you feel like someone has disrespected you, it's easy to take their behavior personally, blame yourself, and think it reflects on your value. This can be incredibly emotionally draining, but the Gospel offers a way out of these hurtful feelings.  In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar talks about why we often take things so personally, allowing them to damage our self-esteem. He'll give you three ways to stop these painful feelings and grow healthier relationships. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Two ways we can take things personally. Common examples that you will relate to immediately. Why no one can actually offend you–you do that! How the Gospel speaks good news to these situations. Get started here… From this episode: "Here’s the thing about taking things personally… or when we say, or think, “I was offended”… No one can really offend you, but you can TAKE offense. We can choose to take what someone has said about us, or done, and CHOOSE to be offended, or take it personally. That’s not really about them in that moment, it’s about me, my choice… what I am believing to be true." Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. Why Your Church Isn’t Growing and Maturing w/Alan Hirsch

When we talk about how mature our church is, we often think about age, structures, and programs. But the church is none of those; the Church is people. Are your people mature? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk about why your church isn’t growing or maturing with our very special guest, Alan Hirsch. Alan is a leading voice in the missional movement of the Christian West and a heck of a great guy! In This Episode You’ll Learn: A surprisingly simple “key” to unity and maturity found in Ephesians 4. How to view leadership and ministry through a biblical perspective. Why you are a gift to your church and community, given by Jesus himself! What happens in a church that doesn’t recognize and embrace all 5 of Jesus’ gifts. Get started here... From this episode: "Here’s what's exciting... We often use it (Eph. 4) as a leadership conversation, actually in the book of Ephesians, it's not about leadership. The first instance and radical way of taking this is that the heroes of the text would not be a group of leaders from a seminary, it's a group of local hacks and local churches. And they were small house churches, Missional sites."   Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. Download today’s BIG 3 right now. When Missional Living Feels Hard

Missional living is messy. At times you’ll wonder why things aren’t easier, or why they’re not moving faster. Sometimes you will wonder if it really matters and if all of this is actually making a difference in people’s lives. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar talks with author and missional practitioner Twyla Franz about when missional living feels hard... and you start to blame yourself, others, or God. This is a great conversation and will encourage you to begin again and keep going! In This Episode You’ll Learn: Reasons that missional living can seem really hard. The 3 people we start to blame when things don't go as planned. The way humility can lead us to freedom. How God feels about you and your progress so far. Get started here… From this episode: "Blaming doesn’t help anyone. Instead of blaming ourselves, we can say the needed apologies and invite God to help us love better. Instead of blaming others, we can choose to notice, listen, and love with compassion and genuine interest. Instead of blaming God, we can trust that He is growing good things even when it doesn’t look how we thought it would." Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. Discipleship and Preparing for Holy Week

As we make disciples of Jesus, understanding the major significance of Holy Week, and Jesus’ death and resurrection cannot be overstated. Or over-celebrated! In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, you'll hear a narrative of the events that take place during the week leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. Caesar will give you some of his personal thoughts and point out 4 key aspects of this historic week in Jesus' life. In This Episode You’ll Learn: How the Gospels each give us a rich and unique perspective. Hear a special narrative that combines all four Gospel timelines. The significance of 4 "last" events leading up to the Cross. Two powerful ways that Jesus took our place to set us free! Get started here… From this episode: "When the Bible says God made Him sin who knew no sin that we might become the righteousness of God in him, he is saying not only that God puts our sins on him… so he dies the death we should have died, but we're also told God puts his righteousness on us. He died, the death we should have died and lived the life we should've lived. So it's not just that God pardons you and says, now you get out of jail free. He treats you as if you had done everything Jesus has ever done." Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. Download today’s BIG 3 right now. How Your Small Groups Need To Change w/Hugh Halter

Outside the Western world, the Church is experiencing its greatest growth in history by gathering and multiplying small groups of people, numbering 10 or less. Is this the way forward for us too? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar talks with author and modern-day apostle, Hugh Halter, about the need to re-envision why and how our church small groups gather together on mission. Now is the time to change! In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why your church small groups are more important than ever. The need to reframe the Gospel for everyone in small groups. Why understanding the community that Jesus formed is key. Tools you can use to move your small group toward missional living. Get started here… From this episode: "God’s love for you, your church, and your community does not stop there! He has brought you together as his family so that more and more of his lost children will find freedom in Christ and live life to the full, today, with you. Plus, your own spiritual formation and maturity will never happen in a “holy huddle” that is primarily inward-focused. If you want to get to know the heart of God and his son Jesus better, dive deeper into living the life he lived with others." [SPECIAL] Finding Your People of Peace

Discipleship has moved out of the classroom (yes!) and into your normal life... but knowing who wants to be discipled and who just wants to be friends can be tough to figure out at times. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, I am sharing a BONUS training I did for folks in the Everyday Disciple Challenge. I'll show you how to move friends and acquaintances toward discipleship relationships... And you’ll learn how to find the people (believers and not-yets) who may become part of your existing or new missional community. God has people who already WANT to be with you! In This Episode You’ll Learn: How Jesus helped his disciples identify who they would disciple. How to identify the 'People of Peace' who are in your life today. Where to spend time looking for these types of people and friends. How to move folks from acquaintances to disciples on mission. Get started here… From this episode: "If you love Jesus and you love people, you’re going to want to be out there where the action is. If you find yourself distracted by everything, uninterested or feeling jaded about helping people get to know Jesus, you may be suffering from a lack of love. Either a lack of love for people; you’re more worried about your pride and appearance, or a lack of love for Jesus; you really don’t think he’s all that great.” Thanks for Listening!
