Ep. 171 - Chapter 12 - Craving is The Problem: What is The Solution? - (Group Learning Program)
Chapter 12 - Craving is The Problem: What is The Solution? - (Group Learning Program)
The problem that Gotama Buddha discovered about the human mind is that it is constantly in a condition of craving and desire, also described as attachment. The mind constantly craves, desires and attaches to possessions, relationships, wealth, fame, occupations, etc. A craving, desire, or attachment is “a mental longing for something with a strong eagerness”.
The mind continuously and endlessly has “cravings”, “desires”, or “wants” and because we cannot ever fulfill our endless “wants” with the mind craving permanence, the mind is discontent caused by our own craving, desires, or attachments.
In this Podcast, David will help you understanding "The Problem" in the mind and discuss the solution to eliminate the discontent mind.

Ep. 170 - Chapter 11 - Meditation: Developing Your Practice (Part 2 of 2) - (Group Learning Program)
Chapter 11 - Meditation: Developing Your Practice (Part `2 of 2) - (Group Learning Program)
Gotama Buddha explained that “a pot without a stand is easy to tip over”. The mind is the “pot” and your meditation practice is the “stand”. Without a stable "stand" (i.e. meditation practice) the pot (i.e. the mind) is going to constantly be "tipped over".
The reason why the mind keeps experiencing discontent feelings such as sadness, anger, frustration, irritation, annoyance, guilt, shame, fears, boredom, loneliness, shyness, jealousy, resentment, stress, anxiety, etc......is because there is not a well established meditation practice....along with learning and practicing the entire Path to Enlightenment. The mind keeps getting "tipped over" experiencing discontent feelings.
The mind needs a steady and consistent “stand” that you establish through the continual development of your meditation practice to train the mind. With a stable meditation practice, a Practitioner can develop mental discipline and the mind won't keep getting tipped over to experience discontent feelings.
Developing a solid and consistent meditation practice that provides the mind training and development is an essential part of learning and practicing these teachings.
In this Podcast, David will guide you in learning four (4) different types of meditation, four (4) different positions for meditation, how to develop a meditation practice, and how meditation will benefit you. He will discuss all the various aspects of developing your meditation practice and provide opportunities for Students to ask questions during the class.

Ep. 168 - Guided Breathing Mindfulness Meditation and Student Questions - (Group Learning Program)
Guided Breathing Mindfulness Meditation and Student Questions - (Group Learning Program)
The goal of Breathing Mindfulness Meditation is to develop “Right Concentration”, “Right Mindfulness”, and to eliminate the unwholesome root of craving/desire/attachment by training the mind not to cling or attach to emotions, situations, fears, relationships, the past nor the future expectations you have of yourself. Gotama Buddha explained this as “cutting off thoughts”. You may also think of this as “letting go of the thoughts”.
All discontentedness is caused by craving/desire/attachment so it is important to train the mind to not have craving/desire/attachment as part of "Developing Your Life Practice".
In this Podcast, David will guide you in doing Breathing Mindfulness Meditation during a group meditation session and will accept questions from students to help you "develop your life practice".

Ep. 163 - Chapter 8 - Transforming the Three Poisons: Greed, Hatred, and Delusion - (Group Learning Program)
Chapter 8 - Transforming the Three Poisons: Greed, Hatred, and Delusion - (Group Learning Program)
Gotama Buddha’s teachings to eliminate, greed, hatred, and delusion are known, for good reason, as The Three Poisons, The Three Unwholesome Roots, and The Three Fires. Also known as, craving, anger, and ignorance.
These are The Three Poisons that exist and are present in the mind as part of rebirth into the human realm. It is our goal, through these teachings, to eliminate these Three Poisons through practice of non-greed or generosity, non-hatred or loving-kindness, and non-delusion or wisdom. To attain Nibbana, one would need to completely eliminate The Three Poisons.
In this Podcast, David will help you understand The Three Poisons, how they cause you problems in life and how to eliminate them from the mind.
