Travis’ Engagement Era, Jokic’s Horse Girl Energy, and Bend It Like Beckham’s Back

This episode of Well Played was recorded before a shooting in New York City on Monday in which the NFL headquarters may have been the target. Police say a gunman armed with a long gun killed at least five people in a Manhattan office building, including himself. While a motive has not been confirmed, authorities say a note found in the shooter’s wallet referenced the brain disease CTE. We want to note that week’s episode includes conversations about football and the NFL that were recorded prior to news of the shooting. Mr. Taylor Swift – aka Travis Kelce – singlehandedly brought us Christmas in July with a 13-photo Instagram dump featuring mostly him and Taylor. Blake and Caroline discuss deeply important info about the couple, including thoughts on Travis losing his 90s heartthrob hair, their potential engagement era, and Travis’ cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. Meanwhile, Sophie Cunningham shared the punishment she received for telling refs how she really feels about them via TikTok. In this episode of Well Played, we also cover:  Freaking out over Hailee Steinfeld mentioning Well Played in her newsletter, Beau Society Who’s backing up Micah Parsons for being Jerry Jones’ public enemy of the week  Nikola Jokic proving he’s just a horse-lover who happens to be great at basketball  What Bend It Like Beckham and the NWSL have in common  Blake’s IG: @blaaakkkke Caroline’s IG: @cghendy theSkimm’s IG: @theskimm For info on when and how to watch your favorite NWSL team, visit nwslsoccer.com/schedule/regular-season. Caitlin Claps Back, Happy Gilmore Returns, and a Very Hailee Hard Knocks

The WNBA All Stars made a statement with just six words on a black shirt that read, “Pay Us What You Owe Us.” The tension continues to mount between the league and its players, who are asking for better pay and work conditions in their new CBA. But after an awkward press conference – where one All Star threw another under the bus – fans were left wondering what the strategy is and how they’ll accomplish it without some solidarity.  In this episode of Well Played, we also cover:  A long recap of Caroline’s wedding and mini-moon and an even longer recap about Blake’s trip to the All Star Game  The real story behind the Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd hard launch  Which celebs – and how many – make a cameo in the Happy Gilmore sequel  Why the Bills were chosen for Hard Knocks despite having a great record Where A’ja Wilson keeps her Olympic gold medals, a year out from the Paris Olympics Blake’s IG: @blaaakkkke Caroline’s IG: @cghendy theSkimm’s IG: @theskimm PS: Did you know theSkimm has a sports newsletter? Wimbledon’s serving more than just tennis. Celebs donned their Wimbledon whites while several top-seeded players bid us a “pip-pip cheerio” in early exits.
