Honest to God | Sunday Message
Why is hypocrisy a big deal? In this Sunday episode, Pastor Greg Laurie explains that it keeps us from being truthful with ourselves and with God. Discover the warning signs of hypocrisy and find out how you can avoid it in your spiritual walk! Listen in for a message titled, “Honest to God,” Pastor Greg’s latest in the series The Upside Down Life, from the book of Acts. Notes Satan always plants his imitations and fakes in the church to confuse people. We are imperfect people trying to serve a perfect God. We should always be seeking to live Godly lives and become more like Jesus! The further we go in the Christian life, the further we realize we need to go! A hypocrite is someone who deliberately deceives others, pretending to be something they’re not. Acts 5 is the story of two hypocrites who found out the hard way that you can’t pull the wool over God’s eyes. When Jesus walked this earth, He saved His most scathing words for the pharisees. Better to be an honest sinner than a lying, hypocritical saint. Satan comes like a lion. In Acts 5, Satan comes in like a serpent. Every time we see Barnabas (in Acts), he is helping someone. “You have not lied to men but to God.” —Acts 5:4 Better to be a sinner and admit it than to pretend to be something you’re not. Judas wanted to appear to be devout when he was in fact devious. The Holy Spirit has come to show us our need for Jesus, but the worst of all sins and the only unforgivable sin is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. They Had Been with Jesus | Sunday Message
When someone’s life has been radically transformed by Jesus Christ, people recognize it. In this Sunday morning podcast, Pastor Greg Laurie defines the attributes that permeate a life of true conversion. Listen in for the latest message from the series, The Upside Down Life from the book of Acts. Notes “The doorway of success is often entered through the hallway of failure.” To be forgiven, there needs to be repentance. “That your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). The Greek word means to “wash off, erase, and obliterate.” Don’t choose to remember what God has chosen to forget. When we repent, “times of refreshment come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). 1. A person who has been with Jesus will boldly share their faith. 2. A person who has been with Jesus will be a person who knows Scripture. 3. A person who has been with Jesus will be persecuted. There is power in Jesus’ name! If and when you’re persecuted, wear it as a badge of honor. 4. A person who has been with Jesus will be a person of prayer. 1. The apostles prayed together. There is power in united prayer. 2. The apostles acknowledged the sovereignty of God. “God is able to do what He pleases with whomever He chooses whenever He wishes.” —Chuck Swindoll 3. The apostles prayed for God’s will. “Lord, I do not ask for a lighter load; I ask for a stronger back.” —C.H. Spurgeon 4. The apostles were once again filled with the Holy Spirit. When we clean out the refrigerator, we’re reminded that nearly everything we buy has a shelf life. With produce, it’s measured in mere days. But so much of what we pursue in our lives has a shelf life. Riches, fame, possessions. They don’t last forever. Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us examine a particular worldview that dominates the End Times. It looks good on the outside, but its shelf life is very short, and the end is destruction. --- Learn more and subscribe to Harvest updates at harvest.org.
