What in the World Is Going On? | Being Faithful in the Small Things

Remember the first time you drove a car? It was unnerving. Just starting the car and adjusting the mirrors took concentration. But before long, you were driving in traffic . . . merging . . . parallel parking -- or something close to it. But you had to start with the small things before you could tackle the big things. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says the same dynamic applies in our walk of faith. Being faithful in the small things equips us for the big things. You Reap What You Sow | A Good Seed Produces Good Fruit

So many say they’re glad they came to Christ for forgiveness of sin and only wished they’d done it sooner. You don’t hear many say, “I went back to partying and drinking and waking up with hangover – I wished I’d done it sooner.” Few would choose pain and heartache over peace and freedom. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us a man of great power who sowed evil, and we’ll see he reaped the fruit he deserved. Today, it’s a look at the law of sowing and reaping. You Reap What You Sow | Does God Notice Your Actions?

Some do many great things, but talk very little about them. Some do few great things, but talk a lot about them. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie presents a contrast between Mordecai and another man named Haaman. They both appear in the story of Esther. One is a good man and gets little recognition – the other, an evil man who’s angling for great recognition. But today, as the story continues, the winds of change blow, and these men get their “just desserts.” Listen on harvest.org --- Learn more and subscribe to Harvest updates at harvest.org. Genealogy is big business these days. And now more than 12 million people have taken DNA tests to learn more about their lineage – maybe hoping they’re related to royalty! We’ll see, spiritually-speaking, we’ve been adopted into God’s family through Christ. Indeed, we are related to royalty. We’re chosen sons and daughters of the King. “Dealing with Depression” | Sunday Message

We tend to think of people who do big things as invincible—but everyone is susceptible to trials. Even Elijah, who called fire down from Heaven, faced the burden of depression. Pastor Greg Laurie speaks of what to do when your emotions are in disarray. Notes 1. If we want to see God work, we must do our part. Don’t wait for the fire of God to fall on you again. You need to repair your altar first. If you have lost the spark, the romance, the love in your marriage, then do loving things again. God is never asleep at the wheel. God is never asleep; He is always watching. “Even atheists have moments of doubt.” —C.S. Lewis “Social media does not bring happiness, it does not bring fulfillment, and it does not bring connection.” —Unknown 2. Our job is to pray. God’s job is to answer. Elijah’s prayer had no screaming, moaning, or hype. 3. God answers prayer the way He wants and when He wants. Sin will have its pound of flesh! Elijah was the instrument God used to call down the fire. But he was also the man who got depressed. Principles about Dealing with Depression: Times of depression and vulnerability come after great victories. Depression often follows disappointment. Takeaway Truth: After spiritually great moments return to normal again, don't focus on your emotions; focus on God! Don’t live in the past; prepare for the future. Principles about Dealing with Depression: When you are depressed, do not isolate but surround yourself with friends. Principles about Dealing with Depression: Don’t ignore the practical when you are feeling down. When you are feeling down, you need perspective from God’s Word. The Lord spoke to Elijah in a still small voice. Listen for the voice of God in your life. It is time to leave that cave and find God’s purpose for your life. God had a plan for Elijah, and He has a plan for you as well! Scripture Referenced 2 Chronicles 16:9 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org. Getting an Eternal Perspective: A Classic Interview with Randy Alcorn

In this episode, we visit a classic conversation between Pastor Greg Laurie and Randy Alcorn. Their discussion centers on how pain, suffering, and the promise of Heaven shapes the believer’s worldview here on earth.  Pastor Greg starts off with two major questions: Why is there suffering? Why do Christians have to suffer? As Randy explains, “[God] didn’t make the world with all of this suffering. He made it different than that. Then we made some choices—sin—that brought suffering into the world. Now we are living with the consequences. The great thing is, according to the Bible, God doesn’t give up. He is still sovereign. He is still in control.” Listen to this fruitful discussion about a necessary topic and be encouraged in your faith! Randy Alcorn is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 50 books, including Heaven. He is the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching biblical truth and drawing attention to the needy and how to help them. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners.Support the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
