Are the Rich Screwing Us Over? | Marxism Explored Many who read Marx discover that his ideas are terrifyingly relevant to today’s capitalist system. Looking at the inequality it produces, the system seems pretty rigged against the working class… which is most of us. Epictetus on How to Be Calm (The Power of Indifference) (Stoicism) | Einzelgänger

Epictetus on How to Be Calm (The Power of Indifference) (Stoicism) The Stoics believe that regardless of our hardships, we have the choice of attitude. We should approach all things that are not within our control with an indifferent stance. Epictetus spoke of “contempt” toward things not in our control, in contrast to those in our control, such as our opinions, pursuits, and other actions originating from our ability to choose.By being indifferent to things not in our control, we take away the fuel that causes us to be emotionally disturbed. This enables our minds to be tranquil in all circumstances, as Epictetus called it, “in a state conformable to nature.”Check out the full video: https://youtu.be/1d2G7V_Oz5o#indifference #epictetus #stoicism Turn on notifications for the podcast & rate it a 5star for new episodes. When Life Hurts, Stop Clinging to It | The Philosophy of Epictetus | Einzelgänger

When Life Hurts, Stop Clinging to It | The Philosophy of Epictetus Stoicism for Inner Peace (book): https://einzelganger.co/innerpeaceOur very sense of wellbeing is at gunpoint when we cling to the fickle, unreliable outside world. Around two thousand years ago, Stoic philosopher Epictetus observed that people are burdened and dragged down because they tend to care about too many things. His cure, however, is not to stop caring altogether but to care about the right things and stop clinging to anything that doesn’t matter. What matters and doesn’t matter according to Epictetus is bound to the reality of our place as reasonable beings in an everchanging environment. This reality Epictetus makes clear in the underlying tenet of his work: ‘the dichotomy of control.’ Some things are in our control, others not. If we manage to concern ourselves with the things in our control, we are in a position of strength. But if we neglect these things, and focus on what’s not in our control, we are in a position of weakness. Especially when we cling to what’s not up to us, we set ourselves up for a life of suffering. But what are those things that we cling to? And why is it better to let go of them? This video explores the philosophy of Epictetus, and what we, according to him, should focus on to be happy and content, and what we should let go of, and how we do this.Support the channel: ✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco ✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster ✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC (Donated BTC and want in the credits? Live More by Doing Less | The Philosophy of Slow Living | Einzelgänger

Live More by Doing Less | The Philosophy of Slow Living Taoism for Inner Peace (book): https://einzelganger.co/tao/A growing group of people believes that we’re better off slowing down. This slower approach to life is known as ‘slow living.’ As a countermovement, ‘slow living’ opposes the fastpaced life that aims for many experiences in a short time, as living at high speed means we’re often living hastily, chaotically, superficially, and with a lack of appreciation of the moment.Video: The Philosophy of Slow Living | Live More by Doing LessSupport the channel: ✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco ✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster ✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC (Donated BTC and want in the credits? Accepting Our Circumstances | The Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius | Einzelgänger

Accepting Our Circumstances | The Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius Marcus Aurelius saw the law of nature as our master; if we run from it or feel grief or anger about it, we’re nothing more than deserters and fugitives. We must accept the ways of nature, embrace them, and focus on dealing with them instead of wasting our energy being disgusted by or clinging to our circumstances. The full video is available here: https://youtu.be/LGXRpbDuDGE#stoicism #marcusaurelius #stoicism Turn on notifications for the podcast & rate it a 5star for new episodes.
