Sophie Grace Holmes On Beating Cystic Fibrosis & Taking Trikafta.
Sophie Grace Holmes is a beacon of light & a symbol of hope in the cystic fibrosis community. The 29 year old is well known across social media as the energetic fitness figure that's challenging the world of ultra endurance events with a big smile on her face. It's hard to believe she has ever had cystic fibrosis let alone be challenged by it. Yet like all CF patients she has faced her fair share of mountains to climb. Her mindset is what keeps her in such good health. Believing that CF will never hold her back, she is on a mission to prove that you too can walk the same path that she has.In the past 6 weeks, Sophie has been recording her progress on the 'miracle drug' known as Trikafta or Kaftrio in the UK. A drug that is the closest thing we've seen to a cure in the CF space, it has its fair share of side effects & is only a possibility for 90% of CF patients with a specific genotype. How has she found it? Well she can't help but get emotional when she says it is changing her life. Explaining, she never fully understood how much CF held her back until she felt what it was like to breathe on clear lungs. An amazing woman, with an incredible story to share. On the 3rd of March 2021 Corey Phillpot will attempt to break the world record for 'the worlds strongest marathon'. To do so, he will be required to pull a 1.5 tonne car for the full 42.2kms. The record was first held by the famous Ross Edgley & was since broken by Justin True. Well the early years of Corey's life were very active. Thats until he was swept up into the party & illicit drug scene. Quickly finding himself lost without purpose & severely overweight. This is a real underdog story. A man who knew he needed to change & become a beast in the process.Listen in, I'm sure you will love what you hear! This episode is proudly sponsored by:-Zachary Biddulph - Mortgage Broker - https://zacharybiddulph.com/Inspect Wollongong - https://www.inspectwollongong.com.au/ - 0450121121Coastal Strata - coastalstrata.com.auTo support #42forCF head to https://cysticfibrosis.grassrootz.com/our-fundraisers/42forcf-bradley-j-dryburghBig Love, Brad. Martinus Evans Is 300 Pounds & Running!
In 2012, Martinus Evans' doctor called him fat & laughed in his face when Martinus claimed he would run a marathon. For some, that would be humiliating enough to give up before you had even begun. For Martinus, it just fuelled a fire that has been burning ever since.Having now run over 100 races around the world he has well & truly proven that doctor wrong. However, more importantly he has inspired so many. Creating the 'Slow AF Run Club' to encourage back of the pack runners to keep going, Martinus has linked up with Adidas amongst other great brands & built a brand from doing what he loves.Follow his journey on social @300poundsandrunning @runslowaf or join the club at his website https://members.slowafrunclub.com/This episode is proudly sponsored by:-Zachary Biddulph - Mortgage Broker - https://zacharybiddulph.com/Jake Mackenzie - Real Estate Agent - 0411 574 568Coastal Strata - coastalstrata.com.auDr Sanjay Parasher - The Foot & Ankle Clinic Of Australia - https://thefaca.com.au/about/ - 1300 03 03 24To support #42forCF head to https://cysticfibrosis.grassrootz.com/our-fundraisers/42forcf-bradley-j-dryburghBig Love, Brad. Life Is Like A Game Of Poker - My Guest Appearance On 'The Hustle & Flow Podcast'.
In this episode you will be hearing me as a guest of 'The Hustle & Flow Podcast' hosted by Leslie Lau & Shaun Cooper. In one of my earlier episodes I referred to life like a game of poker saying "You are dealt a hand to play with & it's out of your control. If you choose to fold early & throw in your chips your game is finished. But, if you choose to hold on, keep the faith & wait for the river, your life might just get a whole lot richer". Les & Shaun used this piece as the framework of the episode as we dived in deep on a chat that I really enjoyed & I hope you do too!To all who have been supporting me & the show, I want to say thank you so much. Adam Everill is the co-founder of Equal Playing Field. The EPF Academy trains young men and women under the age of 35 as facilitators and advocates for gender equality and respectful relationships. EPF was started by Adam & his co-founder Jacqui Joseph. Jacqui is the Chief Executive Officer in PNG, while Adam now heads up EPF Australia. EPF has a Board of Directors made up of prominent PNG citizens who are responsible for the organisation’s governance. Some years ago, Jacqui was inspired to run a marathon to raise funds for Equal Playing Field, which meant Adam was on board too. The feat inspired him to reach for the stars in his next endeavours & boy did he do just that. The plan originally to conquer the Kokoda track in a day. Then covid-19 changed his plans but it didn't kill his ambition. All 96 kilometres & 6,000 metres of elevation would be tackled but it would now take place on the trails of the Illawarra's very own Mount Keira.Did he complete it? Blake Pavey Is A TikTok Sensation & Comedic Genius.
Blake Pavey is an 18 year old Aussie TikTok sensation. You wont find him doing the 'renegade' or hitting the 'woah' but rather as one of the many characters in his social media comedic skits. His style has been likened to that of Chris Lilley & there is no doubt that beyond the app that has taken the world by storm, Blake has a bright future ahead of him in the big wide world of entertainment. When he's not popping up in your 'for you' page, he's just living life as a typical Aussie fella. The Story Behind #42forCF.
As many of you know, I was born with Cystic Fibrosis. CF predominately effects the respiratory system & as a result in late June/early July this year I suffered from some bleeding in the small airways of my lungs.Whilst sitting in the emergency room at Wollongong Hospital I had the inspiration to run a marathon before the years end. Proving that no hurdle can stand in your way if you have a positive outlook & great work ethic. Now 8 weeks into my training with the guidance of my coach Ben Seymour & the support of the team at CF Australia, #42forCF will be the first official marathon event in Wollongong's history. While Covid has reduced our capacity to a small crew, the event has gone virtual with plans to see runners logging their efforts from all over Australia on December 12th in honour of Cystic Fibrosis. To support the cause you can donate to the #42forCF fundraising page with all funds going directly to CF Australia and/or share your running efforts whether they be big or small to instagram tagging myself @bradleyjdryburgh & @cfaustralia on December 12th & in the lead up to the day!https://cysticfibrosis.grassrootz.com/our-fundraisers/42forcf-bradley-j-dryburghThis episode is proudly sponsored by https://zacharybiddulph.com/Big Love, Brad & Cystic Fibrosis Australia. Sandor Earl On Embracing Life's Challenges & Being Fuelled By Fire.
Sandor Earl is one of the NRL's biggest stories.Growing up, Sandor's first love was rugby league. The outsider would say he's talented, he disagrees. As he reflects on what got him to where he is today, he credits his insane work ethic for his success as a footballer. It's a trait that shines through in everything he does. Not only is Sandor a professional athlete but also a business owner with a number of projects running outside of 4 lines on the footy field. But like any great story, it's not been all smooth sailing. We reflected on the Stephen Dank peptide scandal that lead to his 4 year ban from Rugby League & cleared the air on the confusion surrounding the story, his mindset coming through that phase of his life & the way it fuelled a fire inside to not only come back to rugby league but to rather make the most of life & the cards he has been dealt.I have a great amount of respect for Sandor & the way he looks at life. His advice for you & I... to embrace failure & every challenge life throws at you. You grow from it & learn along the way. This episode is proudly sponsored by https://zacharybiddulph.com/To support #42forCF head to the link https://cysticfibrosis.grassrootz.com/our-fundraisers/42forcf-bradley-j-dryburghBig love, Brad.
