He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011. In 2016, he completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center, and in 2017, he completed his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He not only specializes in treating elbow, shoulder, wrist, and hand disorders as an orthopaedic surgeon, but he also has clinical expertise in nerve compression treatment, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, shoulder and elbow replacements, upper extremity trauma and fractures, and sports injuries. With his background as an athlete and a former member of the Bucknell University men's baseball team, he appreciates helping his patients in continuing to do what they love. Furthermore, because Dr. Grandizio is passionate about research, his work has reached a national level, and some of his works have been published, he has contributed to the advancement of the area of orthopaedics, and he has been named chief of the Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Grandizio is an associate professor at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, where he recognizes the necessity of training tomorrow's orthopaedic specialists. He just began a Geisinger Hand and Upper-Extremity Research Fellowship, where he supervises resident research. He's also a member of the American Society for Hand Surgery's Resident Education Committee. Goal of episode: To develop a baseline knowledge on Distal Humerus Fractures. Show notes at: Dr. Tessa Balach @tbalachMD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. She earned her medical degree from New York Medical College and later on completed her internship, residency and fellowship at University of Medicine Chicago. Dr. Balach specializes in Orthopaedic Surgery and Oncology with multiple areas of expertise on Bone and Soft Tissue Cancers and Knee/Hip Replacement, where she treats both adults and children with malignant tumors. She is also the residency director at UChicago Orthopaedic residency program and founder of Ortho Access Info ! She is also a researcher who is currently leading and participating in clinical studies aimed at improving the treatment and management of bone illnesses and injuries. Dr. Balach works with medical students, residents, and fellows as a mentor and educator. She has also published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and medical journals, as well as giving speeches at a variety of professional conferences. Also, Dr. Balach works together with experts in the Medical Center where they provide highly specialized care for patients with both common and rare bond and soft tissue tumors. Moreover, she also treats patients with metastatic bone disease to strengthen weak bones to avoid fractures caused by breast, lung, prostate and kidney metastases. Goal of episode: To develop a baseline knowledge on 5th metatarsal fractures. Dr. Steve Beherns is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with triple fellowship training in orthopedic foot and ankle, trauma and sports medicine. Dr. Behrens earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and graduated summa cum laude. He completed his medical training at Ross University School of Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency and trauma fellowship at Brown University, one of the busiest trauma centers in the Northeast. He then completed a second fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he provided care to recreational and competitive athletes and assisted the medical staff of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and the University of Pittsburgh. Finally, he completed a third fellowship in foot and ankle at OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute with mentorship from leaders in the field at one of the highest-regarded orthopedic practices in the United States.
