He then received his medical degree from Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, graduating in the top third of his class. Dr. Sears completed residency training in orthopaedics at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago. Following his residency, Dr. Sears received advanced training in the shoulder and elbow through his fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He received additional experience and training in elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre, Ontario, Canada. After being in practice for three years, Dr. Sears joined Western Orthopaedics in 2014 and specializes in the care and treatment of elbow and shoulder injuries. His concentration is in shoulder and elbow. Dr. Freehill is a team physician for the Stanford University athletics program and head physician for the Stanford University baseball team. Dr. Freehill also teaches in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Freehill’s practice focuses on all shoulder conditions. He treats rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, shoulder arthritis, sports shoulder, arthroplasty, complex shoulder pathology, and sports-related shoulder injury. In addition, he is also passionate about sports- related elbow injuries, with an emphasis on thrower’s elbow. Dr. Freehill serves as assistant team physician for the Oakland A’s. Previously, he was a team physician for the Detroit Tigers and the Winston-Salem Dash (affiliated with the Chicago White Sox); he assisted with the Baltimore Orioles. He has also served as Director of Sports Medicine for Wake Forest University Athletics. He is also the director of the imminent Stanford Performance and Pitching Lab,and was a professional baseball player before becoming an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He has conducted a study on pitch counts in adolescent players funded by Major League Baseball. Dr. Freehill was also awarded a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to investigate stromal vascular fractionated mesenchymal cells and their potential for healing rotator cuff tendon tears. Dr. Lundy is the new chairman of St Luke’s University Health Network, Department of Orthopedics. Douglas W. Lundy, MD, MBA, FAOA, FACS, who led one of the largest private orthopedics groups, Resurgens Orthopaedics, for over a decade. Dr. Lundy specializes in acute/reconstructive trauma, fracture and limb-lengthening surgery. Before joining SLUHN, he was co-President of Resurgens Orthopaedics, PC of Atlanta, Georgia. He previously was a member of the Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies in Colorado. He has treated patients with injuries of the bones, tendons and muscles for more than 22 years. Dr. Lundy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Emory University School of Medicine, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia. He has held leadership positions with American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, American Orthopaedic Association and the American College of Surgeons. For 10 straight years, he was named a Top Doctor in Georgia Trend and Atlanta Magazine. Dr. Lundy has performed intricate surgeries using only rudimentary instruments and supplies in Africa, Mongolia and the Far East. There he has taught local surgeons advanced operative and restorative techniques, so they can continue performing these procedures independently.
