Ep 78: Trust your intuition, use your brain. (A conversation with Meg Tietz)

This episode is for anyone who needs a good, long, catchup with girlfriends.  It's been awhile since we've had a huge dose of girlfriend chat on the show, but great conversations are the driving force of 10 Things To Tell You. In our long overdue conversation, Meg and I each share five things we need to catch up on. We talk loneliness, Real Housewives, true crime obsessions, the perfect amazon purchase, shoes, and intuition.  Meg Tietz created and hosts the Sorta Awesome podcast (where I'm a former co-host), and she just launched a new daily show called Awesome Today. She also runs the fantastic FB group called Sorta Awesome Hangout. Follow her on IG. Thanks to our sponsors: SKILLSHARE. Go to Skillshare.com/YOU for 2 months free premium membership.  RAYCON. Ep 77: What's your BIG story?

This episode looks at your life like a movie.  What's your BIG story? The main narrative arc to your life? The story that is central to your identity? Anyone who knows you well knows this story. Maybe it happened in childhood. Maybe you're currently in the middle of it. But we all have one, big, main story.  In movies and in literature, they call this the Hero's Journey. It's one of the the most common storytelling devices in art. On this episode, I'm sharing my own BIG story. The thing that I arrange events into Before & After. I can't wait to hear yours. Ep 76: 10 Questions to ask yourself in the middle of anything

This episode is for anyone who could use an honest evaluation in the middle of something. (And maybe a reset.) In the beginning, we make plans. Set goals. Hope for the best. At the end, we evaluate how it went. We make notes for next time. We accept our trophies or don't. But what about in the middle? Don't we need to stop down and ask some hard questions in the MIDDLE? To see if we're on track? To make tweaks? To define what it means to "finish well"?  Here are 10 Questions to ask yourself when you're in the middle of anything. The middle of a project or the middle of a season, all 10 questions apply. For me, I'm answering from the middle of the year. It's hard to believe, but we are still in the very middle of 2020. And I have LOTS of feelings about the first half, and the tweaks I want to make for the months remaining.  Full show notes for this episode here. This episode is sponsored by BETTERHELP. Ep 75: Who are you talking about?

This episode is for anyone who had felt icky, gleeful, guilty, or triumphant after talking about someone else. Look, we all do it sometimes, right? We gossip or vent or judge someone in conversation with friends. But does talking about someone behind their back REALLY say more about us than it does about them? Let’s discuss. BONUS: More great books to read!

This episode is for anyone who can't get enough of the book talk. We didn't have time for me to share ALL the great books I've been reading on the recent reading episode, so this is a little bonus to tell you all about my current book stack, including a new novel that's a contender for favorite of the year, and a nonfiction book that I am forcing myself to read with an open mind. I'm also sharing a few of the books in my immediate To Read pile, plus the three books that I've preordered for fall release.  Full show notes for this episode can be found here.  Follow @10ThingsToTellYou on IG Follow @10ThingsToTellYou on FB Sign up to receive episode emails Join the 10TTTY Connection Group   Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 74: Best Books Lately with Sarah Bessey

This episode is a midsummer reading check-in.  It's time for another episode about BOOKS and this time I'm joined by my good friend Sarah Bessey. Sarah is a writer, speaker, and all around woman of wisdom. She is the author of Jesus Feminist, Out of Sorts, and the spiritual memoir Miracles and Other Reasonable Things. She is also the cofounder of the Evolving Faith conference.  On this episode, Sarah and I each share the best books we've read lately, including popular novels, Canadian authors that fly under the radar, and social justices resources. The full list of books discussed can be found in the show notes. You can also view them on Bookshop.org. This episode is sponsored by SKILLSHARE. Ep 73: I wrote a book! (Agents, publishers, writing, and editing.)

This episode is for anyone curious about the process of writing and publishing.  I wrote a book! Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First will launch in February 2021, but I'm taking some time this week to talk all about the behind-the-scenes details I've always been curious about with other authors.  I'm answering questions from the 10TTTY Connection group about how I got an agent, crafted a book proposal, signed a book deal with a publisher, wrote & edited the book, and chose a cover.  There is SO MUCH to say about this longtime dream coming to fruition, after years of uncertainty and rejection.  This episode is sponsored by NATIVE. Ep 72: Has the internet ever changed your mind?

This episode is for anyone who has has been told that there's no use fighting on facebook.  Has the internet ever changed your mind on an issue? Is it easier to hear a new perspective from friends and acquaintances or from strangers? The episode is all about the ways that people’s social media posts ARE changing our culture, through snark, humor, memes or thoughtful shared experiences. Let’s be honest about when a post has opened our eyes or when we’ve decided to dig in our heels. I share my own thoughts on this topic, as well as a few ways (some silly, some serious) that the internet has changed my perspective. At the end of the show a few listeners chime in with their thoughts. This episode is sponsored by SKILLSHARE. Ep 71: Kendra Adachi is The Lazy Genius

This episode is part friendship, part therapy, part work/life balance. I am so excited to share this conversation with my friend Kendra Adachi (aka The Lazy Genius) because not only do we talk about being “work friends” and how that narrow relationship title offers us freedom in our friendship, but Kendra also applies her Lazy Genius principles to my problem prioritizing work tasks. And I have kind of am embarrassing breakthrough.  This episode is sponsored by Care/Of. Ep 70: Age is just a number, right?

Please indulge me in a little birthday episode. I turn 41 this week and though it’s not the major milestone I celebrated last year, I still have things to say. This episode is half nostalgic nonsense and half preach-y. I guess this is what happens when I go off script.  This episode is sponsored by SKILLSHARE.  Full show notes here.
