What is Relationship OCD?
Hello and welcome back to another episode!Psychology is often about relationships and how we navigate them!We have Maddie joining us to deep dive into normal doubts in relationship Vs ROCD We look to our partners to be everything for us nowadays and this can be an incredibly burden on the relationship and leave us feeling chronically dissatisfied. It is very normal to have doubts and questions around our relationships. But when does this turn into something more chronic? What is ROCD?It is a theme of OCD that focuses on and causes incessant disruption of thoughts of if you are in the right relationship, it fixates on most often romantic relationships but can extend to friendships and even pets too! It is like constantly temperature checking your relationship! We hope you enjoy!Aimee, Kat + Maddie Kat's book recommendation: https://www.angusrobertson.com.au/books/relationship-ocd-sheva-rajaee/p/9781684037919?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1ZO_zomGgQMV8cJMAh2JpQBTEAQYASABEgIAe_D_BwEThe Thriving Therapists: Facebook group: https://m.facebook.com/groups/224252457083630/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvFInstagram: @thethrivingtherapistsYou can find more of us here: Our Online Psychology practice: Did you know we have online appointments available with our amazing therapists Lisa or Maddie. Blasting the "blahs" + finding joy again
Hello and welcome back to another episode! Why are we talking about the blahs? Let us paint you a picture. You feel different. Tired. You’re not exactly sad or distressed, but you couldn’t describe yourself as thriving either. Anhedonia refers to the reduced ability to experience pleasure, it’s not burnout, still had energy. Its not depression. We just felt blah. You have all of the things that you want and you’re doing all the things you “should” do but you just don’t get to experience joy. We are talking about the middle ground or the grey area of mental health today – rather than the two opposite swings of the pendulum – happiness and depression – we are talking about the blahs and languishing - when you feel lackluster or disconnected, but you’re not in notable distress because that is the reality of where a lot of us are at the moment! Our mission is always to invite people to understand normal psychological experiences and I think anhedonia or a case of the blah’s or mehs is something a lot of us experience but maybe don’t necessarily understand. Blasting the BlahsPeople get bored of talking about mindfulness and nature and self-care because we know it and hear it so often, but these are the mitigating factors in the reward pathway that are so effective at blasting the blahs!! We hope you enjoy!Aimee, Kat + Maddie You can find more of us here: Our Online Psychology practice: Did you know we have online appointments available with our amazing therapists Lisa or Maddie.
