Unity’s Teaser is Shocking, Instagram Gets Deterministic and Shopify is Coming for Your Bio

Game Developers Conference is happening right now and you’d be forgiven if you mistook Unity’s latest avatar in the teaser Enemies for a real person! The new tech is so accurate, even wrinkles and blood flow are on point!  Lauren and Josh talk about Unity’s latest and whether or not the real time video game developer is too much for Western tastes?  And more importantly, will we still be able to choose animal-like or cartoony avatars? Next up is Instagram and its fancy new terminology to explain... we’re not sure what.  But it’s “deterministic” and Lauren’s all over it. The intention from IG seems good – wanting to give people options over their feeds, but maybe giving users control over their own feeds would be a better idea? Uhem, yeah! Wait till you hear the grades Josh and Lauren give for this well-intended roll-out. Surprising? Not so much.  Shopify has come up with linkpop. A new link in bio that connects you directly to all things Shopify. Brilliant? Our team thinks... well we can’t ruin the fun. Listen to the show. But is Linktree bumming out about all of this...Hmmm?  Either way, Tiktok has rolled out Stories, no one is shocked or surprised – if anything, everyone’s a little confused as to why it took so long. Josh shares his worries for the short form video platform and Lauren reminds him, “It’s not about you.”  Gotta love it.  Don’t miss Josh’s upload – it concerns Web 3 and someone who leaked their pitch deck. White House Reaches Out to TikTok, NCAA Punishes Smack Talk and Instacart Delivers on TikTok

Yes, you read that right – the White House reached out to TikTok Stars to help spread the message about Ukraine. The idea was to help inform creators about the US policy towards Russia. In doing so, the White House acknowledged that people are getting their information from these social media platforms. So, why do Lauren and Josh think this is both terrifying and genius? And what does Saturday Night Live have to do with all of it? I’m curious too! After wrapping your head around that, it looks like we’re really touching on the “madness” part of March Madness, in this episode. The NCAA suspends members of Kent State for talking smack against Akron and Josh and Lauren discuss - Did the punishment fit the crime? Was it actually a crime? Isn’t smack-talking part of the game? Lauren makes a valid point, “Do people really need to do everything online?” Hmmm. Instacart rolls out a recipe ingredient delivery service that would allow creators to link their TikTok videos to shopping lists. Even though it’s currently a limited program, the possibilities are incredible. Both Josh and Lauren are excited about this but they have so many questions. I bet you do too! We’re also breaking down Vimeo’s changing platform and what it means to Patreon and its creators. And of course, Josh and Lauren give you the info on Pinterest’s latest answer to TikTok, perhaps? Don’t miss Josh’s upload and listen for where Lauren says, “Internet. Love it, hate it, it’s complicated.” She’s not wrong! As always, we’re everything you need to know about the Creator Economy!   - From the Team at Creator Upload  Creator Upload Socials:YOUTUBEINSTAGRAMTIKTOK

Brandon Sanderson’s Successful 26M Kickstarter Campaign, Amazon’s Amp Does What and YouTube Will Pay for Podcasts

Brandon Sanderson is a prolific author who basically bypassed his publisher TOR to self-publish his next set of books through his own company, Dragonsteel using Kickstarter to raise funding to the tune of $26M. Is it possible for anyone else to follow in his footsteps? Are we heading back to the days when creators can fund projects in substantial ways through Kickstarter and Indiegogo? Lauren and Josh talk about it. And, surprisingly, the answer may be exactly what you think.Yes, Amazon launched AMP.  They’ll compete with the likes of Clubhouse, Twitter Spaces, Facebook Live, Telegram Voice Chat, etc. But what makes AMP different is its access to a large catalog of music! Want to know how that might work for those with a pre-existing audience? What about that DJ who knows how to curate a great playlist?  Lauren discusses how it might all work, and why it could be a game-changer. They both dive a little deeper - imagine the possibilities if AMP is somehow intertwined with a live streaming space like Twitch? Whoa! Should Spotify duplicate this model?  It’s all pretty exciting! Also, YouTube wants to pay podcasters to upload the video versions of their shows. They’re offering grants of up to $300K and Josh is Bullish on the idea! But why? We also get Lauren’s uploads which include the D’Amelio family and Josh gives us the scoop on Snoop Dogg and his further venture into Gaming - FaZe. And yeah, did you notice Snoop’s necklace at the Superbowl? Me either. Josh, however, did. And he’s sharing the details. Did we mention, we’re glad you’re here?  We are! - From the Team at  – www.creatorupload.com   Creator Upload Socials:YOUTUBEINSTAGRAMTIKTOK

MrBeast Joins LinkedIn and Yes, Randi Zuckerberg's Crypto Dance

Curious what the natural evolution of a YouTube creator is?  Check out this episode where Joshua Cohen and Lauren Schnipper explain how the final stop and aspiration for any successful creator seems to always lead to LinkedIn. Best example that happened this week?  MrBeast joins LinkedIn and everyone wonders but why? Well, he wasn’t the first. Jessica Alba with the Honest Company, Ryan Reynolds with MNTN, - it all comes down to LinkedIn being the place where creators reach an entirely new audience and show their business chops. Josh says, "LinkedIn is the final creator frontier." It's a whole other kind of flex and we’re here for it. Josh and Lauren break it down. As always there’s the fun stuff: did you see Randi Zuckerberg's latest? Yup, they saw it too. Crypto Cringe-worthy or NFT fantabulous? You’ll have to listen and find out. At the end of the day, we’re all here talking about it, so maybe it worked? They also chime in on the State of the Union address - what does it mean for actual regulations on social media platforms that some have been begging for? Tiktok jumps in on the long-form 10-minute video - Lauren has real concerns. Hank Green had something to say about it too!  And, yes, Josh gives us his upload/download and all we can reveal here is it involves... A Conversation with Danny Casale, aka Coolman Coffeedan

As always, we’re touching base on everything you need to know about the Creator Economy. In this episode, we’re catching up on what’s new with Facebook & Instagram Reels. Could it be Meta’s new answer to TikTok?  Maybe. We dive into how they plan on making it work - here’s a hint: monetization for creators that includes banner ads on videos. Do you know what Upfronts are? The New Fronts? We get the breakdown of where it comes from, how it came to be, and why YouTube is fiercely going after Television advertising dollars. Of course, the big interview with Danny Casale covers it all – the artist talks about why he calls himself an Artist above all else, explains his brilliant journey from kid YouTuber to the work he’s doing today and gives his take on how NFT’s can be lucrative for creators.  - From the team at Creator Upload  Creator Upload Socials:YOUTUBEINSTAGRAMTIKTOK

YouTube < Crypto, Hank Green's Money Me$$age to TikTok, and Jellysmack's $500 million play for the oldies but goodies

YouTube just lost three very big executives who have been with the company several years (a couple of them 15 years!). At least two of them are moving into roles at crypto/Web3 companies. Are we sensing a theme here?!? Also, Hank Green lays out the argument for why YouTube is so good (it pays creators) and why TikTok isn't as good as it can be (it doesn't pay creators enough). Plus, Jellysmack is getting into the we'll-license-your-back-catalog-of-YouTube-videos-for-upfront-cash game with $500 million in tow. Creator Upload Socials: YOUTUBE INSTAGRAM TIKTOK
