What I Discuss With Rabbi Avremi Zipple About Finding Purpose In Your Pain
Rabbi Avremi Zippel came forward publicly in 2019 about the decade of sexual abuse he survived from a trusted childhood caretaker. Since then, Avremi discussed why he took an advocacy role in battling sexual abuse worldwide and championing survivors. During our discussion, Rabbi Zippel shows survivors of child sexual abuse how they can overcome their ordeal through support, love, and acceptance.
Avremi’s childhood growing up in an orthodox Jewish family where he was homeschooled.
How his caretaker, who entered his life as a close family friend, ultimately altered it forever.
Avremi discusses the moment watching Law and Order in his early twenties when he realized he had suffered child sexual abuse.
Why he felt self-blame for the abuse and decided to keep it a secret from his family and wife.
How burying it ultimately had devastating effects on his life.
Why going through talk therapy opened allowed him to start to heal from his past.
We then turn to the healing journey he has been on.
Why he chose to report the incident to the police.
We discuss the eventual trial and its ultimate verdict.
We examine how his life has changed following the verdict and his advice to others on how to overcome abuse and trauma.
And so much more.

Dr. Kara Fitzgerald on How to Become a Younger You by Reversing Your Biological Age EP 174
In today's episode of Passion Struck with John R. Miles, I interview Dr. Kara Fitzgerald about her groundbreaking work in understanding how you can reverse your biological age and become a younger you. | Brought to you by Gusto. Go to (https://www.gusto.com/passionstruck) for three months free.
Dr. Kara Fitzgerald, ND, IFMCP, is the first-ever recipient of the Emerging Leadership Award from the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute in recognition of her work on DNA methylation. Dr. Fitzgerald directs a large, integrative in-person and virtual clinical practice in Connecticut. She is engaged in clinical research on the DNA methylome using a diet and lifestyle intervention developed in her clinic. Her first study was published in the journal Aging. Earlier this year, she published Younger You: Reduce Your Bio Age and Live Longer, Better, an application-based program based on the study.

What I Discuss With Dr. Kara Fitzgerald About How You Reverse Your Biological Age Through Lifestyle and Diet Choices
Dr. Fitzgerald and I discuss how there is a link between aging and chronic disease, and it has everything to do with epigenetics and their effect on aging. Biological age looks at specific patterns of a key epigenetic mark called DNA methylation. These DNA methylation patterns can reliably predict how fast our body is aging.
Methylation is as essential to our bodies as breathing and is happening in our bodies and within our cells all of the time. Therefore, if you can give yourself the DNA methylations of a younger you, you can reset your biological aging process. She provides key ways to do this throughout our interview that are based on her years of experience backed by clinical trials.
Why do most adults spend the last 16 years of their lives suffering from chronic conditions and taking multiple medications?
Why reversing biological age is key.
Why it's epigenetics and not your genetics that determines your level of health and age
How is epigenetic expression greatly influenced by DNA methylation?
How do our diet and lifestyle choices impact DNA methylation?
The results of her research and a groundbreaking clinical trial showed a reduction of biological age by three years.
Why it is our daily choices and routines that add years to your life or reduce them
Her diet and lifestyle program which increases healthspan and reduces your biological age.
And so much more.

What I Discuss With D.J. Vanas about the Warrior Within
Drawing inspiration from Native American philosophy and tradition, D.J. discusses how The Warrior Within showcases a new standard of personal power in the face of overwhelming disorder. A genuine warrior is not the most formidable or most courageous person in the room. A real warrior is committed to self-proficiency, knows how to navigate life's transitions and disruption, converts setbacks into possibilities for accomplishment, refuses to give up, and most importantly, always fights for something greater than the self.
How going through the Sundance Ceremony transformed his life and image of being a warrior.
Air Force Academy experiences
What a warrior is and what a warrior is not.
What is the difference between a fighter and a warrior?
Intentional desire to serve in the right way.
The importance of each of us finding our own tribe.
Why can't we be a warrior when we're falling apart inside?
How can you apply the warrior spirit to overcome perfectionism?
Why Humility is the great equalizer.

Why We Fail to Take Responsibility for Our Life w/John R. Miles EP 169
People often ask me, 'Why do we fail to take responsibility for our choices?'
In the words of Jim Rohn, "Either you run the day, or the day runs you." This illustrates how essential it is for us to take charge of our habits or inadvertently allow our choices to dictate our life.
When we fail to act, we allow fate to control our lives instead of us owning our destiny. As I discussed in last week's episode, it's why mediocre choices lead us to be average.

Why We Must Take Responsibility for our lives.
Today, I take an in-depth look into what it means when we fail to take responsibility for our choices. Failure to do so results in us living on autopilot. We are like a balloon caught by the wind and utterly dependent on outside forces to guide our way.
I will use the wise old man's fable to provide an overview of what taking responsibility in action looks like.

In last week's episode, I argued that mediocrity achieved as an end result of all our best efforts is not bad. But, it is when we intentionally practice habits that lead to being mediocre.
The truth is no one wants the title of being mediocre. Everyone desires to be unique, outstanding, and gifted. However, until you create an environment around yourself that fosters excellent choices, you will persist in making daily choices that make you average at best.
