Reinviting Healthcare from First Principles with Dr. Ravi Komatireddy and Michael Mann Episode #28
Planetary Health First Mars Next will have a special guest and good friend Ravi Komatireddy MD on a topic that he cannot just stop, a topic he is endlessly dreaming and reworking.Topic is Reinventing Healthcare from First Principles.
These principles are embodied and designed in every once of his being into his startup Daytona HealthA little bit...about Ravi. When people ask him what he does, the answer is not always as straightforward as a title and the company. Ravi's reply to what he does....I am the Founder and CEO of Daytona Health. But I’m doing and have done many different things that have served my career in unexpected ways:Working as a salmon fisherman in the Bering Sea, Alaska in 2020.Winning the 1st grant from the NASA Flight Opportunities Program to advance research in digital health and human spaceflight. Working with NASA on its COVID-19 Taskforce.Receiving $1M CDC Technology Innovation Grant to develop telemedicine technology for rehab.Co-launching a digital health model for medical startups operating in the Nairobi, Kenya HealthTech ecosystem.Earning my FAA pilot’s license and skydiving. Why is this important? Because outside of traditional healthcare, delving into new, seemingly unrelated experiences has shaped my view of the potential we all have to change our health and the healthcare ecosystem.Today’s healthcare industry is rigid and costly, and yet, people are not healthy. Digital health has the potential to disrupt the existing landscape and empower people to care for themselves in a more personalized way. Democratizing healthcare with choices, tools, and technology that fit into the demands of people’s lives, can transform the health of our nation and the world. As founder and CEO of Daytona Health, I’m a Board-certified physician and former Founder and Chief Medical Officer who brings an innate curiosity (i.e.: the varied experiences I seek), diversity of thought, and expansive domain knowledge coupled with 15 years of lessons learned to disrupt healthcare as we know it. At Daytona Health, I am championing innovative digital health initiatives and behavior modification systems that will help people achieve optimal HealthSpan using both technology and the human touch. With a different perspective, we can reframe problems, apply solutions from other industries to current challenges in healthcare, and affect positive, lasting change. I leverage these solutions to inspire disruptive innovation in healthcare. Through ultra-personalized digital health coaching, Daytona Health is guiding people to change their health behaviors and not only improve their health, but also their performance and longevity. As a born scientist and the “guy with vision,” I translate ideas into real-world solutions. I think big, push the boundaries of what was thought possible and deliver meaningful, measurable results that will reshape healthcare and improve human potential.

"No. Your Jewish friends are not ok." with Gil Bashe and Michael Mann Episode #27
We had scheduled topic:
The on how the "world that was" and the continued neglect of health, disparities, racial inequity, and challenges in access to care. This topic of consideration was accelerated when COVID happen and yet we are in beginning to pretend that COVID didn’t happen and the struggle of many Americans to have equal voice in health equity is now forgotten.
But due to this horrendous atrocity that has unfolded last weekend and with my good friend Gil Bashe, I thought he could be the best voice to share more on his blog commention: "No. Your Jewish friends are not ok." Gil will share from his heart, as a Jew. May this discussion lead to better understand, clarity, peace, hope and healing. Prayers to all those suffering.
