#101) What Will You Accomplish in 2020?

Today, we’re going to help you think through your goals for next year -- and we’re going to increase the likelihood of you actually following through by integrating S.M.A.R.T goals.Ask Yourself Why:Pick one goal you have in mind. Ask why you want to accomplish this goal. What’s the main reason you want to accomplish your goal.Is it to impress someone else?Is it because you’ve always had this goal? How good would you feel if you were to accomplish that goal? What will you be able to accomplish if you finish that goal?Set Your SMART Goals:SMART is an acronym that stands for...Specific - A major reason why New Year's resolutions fail are that you aren’t specific enough. Creating specific goals does something psychologically that sets you up for success. Measurable - The more quantifiable the better. Weight is a good example because you can step on the scale and have a number.Attainable - Make sure you are positioned with the tools required to nail your goal. If you don’t have them, go get them. Also, be sure to be realistic. Relevant - Why is this relevant in the context of the bigger picture of your life? Time-Bound - Put a specific time frame on your goal. (Also, don’t be too short-term. This is one of the reasons why people give up. Give it a year’s time with quarterly check points.)Resources Mentioned in the Show:Follow me on IG and DM me what your goals are! https://www.instagram.com/careerwarriorpodcast/Come up with your SMART goals and implement an action plan. #98) Relentless Positivity as a Gamechanger in Your Job Search

I hate when people simply say to be positive, but this is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your life. I try and tackle this issue the right way by drawing from faith, science, and my own experiences. At the end of the day, if you are living your days in positive expectation, you’ll be able to actually persist enough to achieve difficult outcomes (eg land a solid job through career change). If you dwell on the negative, you will slow down unnecessarily. It’s that simple. The episode will cover why it’s important to be positive as well as how to shift your mindset from constant negativity to positive expectation.Resources mentioned in the show:Scientific studies on the benefits of positive thinking.
