Read the article here: https://nonsite.org/missing-new-orleans-twenty-years.../   Much has been written about New Orleans in the last twenty years, but not all of this writing has been especially helpful or illuminating. Many early interpretations of the Katrina disaster quickly cohered around a racial justice perspective, which rehearsed familiar narratives of the color line as the central axis of conflict in American life. The truth of such narratives seemed undeniable in the face of the news footage, testimonies, and imagery of mostly black New Orleanians stranded in the flooded city and struggling to survive amid chaos and little government rescue and relief.
