Vagus Nerve Effects on Bone Health and Osteoporosis
Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of the Health Upgrade Podcast.Today, our focus will be centered on bone health, where we will delve deep into the intricate mechanisms of bone health and explore the challenges that lead to bone density loss or bone mineral loss. Our bones consist of three different types of cells - osteoblasts, osteoclasts, and osteocytes, which work in perfect harmony to maintain bone homeostasis. Moreover, the involvement of the nervous system and autonomic nervous system also plays a crucial role in bone health, regulating the structure and bone function.Osteoporosis is one of the most prevalent conditions that arise when the overall health of our bones is less than optimal. This condition is characterized by a decrease in estrogen levels, leading to a higher risk of bone mineral loss. The presence of sympathetic activation on the autonomic nervous system and an increase in inflammation further exacerbate this condition, increasing the risk of cardiovascular issues, heart attacks, and atherosclerosis. In this episode, we will also touch upon the significance of nutrient deficiencies such as calcium and magnesium in improving bone density. So, if you are interested in upgrading your overall bone health, join us now and listen to this exciting episode!Contact infoNavaz HabibEmail: podcast@healthupgraded.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrNavazHabib/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drnavazhabib/LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/drnavazhabibJP ErricoLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jp-errico-097629aawebsite: www.jperrico.com

He is the medical director of MediPro and works with patients on Complex Pain (AAPM), Functional Medicine, IV & Peptides, Biotherapy, and more. He became interested in medicine as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, where he served with the Marine Corps elite Special Operations Teams; Force Reconnaissance. He is also a multi-disciplinary integrated professional, holding graduate degrees as a Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Functional Medicine and Clinical Nutrition. In today's interview, we will be talking about the importance of vagus nerve stimulation in addressing pain management, chronic dysfunction, inflammation and mental health. And its integration with autonomic nervous system, immune system, metabolic system, neurotransmitter and reproductive systems. The vagus nerve is like a plateau buster and by activating through stimulation it effectively keeps your body in the healthiest state so that you can get help. We will also be tackling some of his best experiences on vagus nerve stimulation in his practice and how it has changed his patients' lives.Rate and review before the next episode. Vagus Nerve Involvement in Metabolic Conditions
Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of the Health Upgrade Podcast.Today, in our mini episode we are going to dig into the topic of metabolic disease and understanding of what adipose tissue is and how its dysregulation could lead to so many other problems. Metabolic disease has to do with two types of serious medical conditions which are type two diabetes and hypertension. These conditions arise in individuals with high body mass indices or BMIs, more specifically in those with a high percentages of body weight attributable to fat. Type two diabetes stresses the pancreas and forces insulin levels to rise as the body tries to push the high glucose into those cells, which then goes through the kidneys causing stress on that organ which will lead to hypertension. We will also be discussing another important piece of this metabolic disease condition which is the autonomic nervous system and the SNS activation. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the fight, flight and freeze responses of our autonomic nervous system. And when this is activated in a longer period it leads to chronic sympathetic activation then anxiety, hypertension, depression, autoimmune disorders, cancer and diabetes will occur.Listen to this episode if you want to understand how you can take that next step to optimize and upgrade your health. Vagus Nerve Stimulation in Chiropractic Practice, featuring Dr. Michael Kennedy
Hello, everybody! Welcome back to the Health Upgrade Podcast.I am thrilled to have this amazing conversation with Dr. Michael Kennedy. He is a chiropractor and earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University. He is the owner of Chanhassen Wellness Chiropractic where he practices chiropractic, neurology, chiropractic care and vagus nerve stimulation for his patients in Chanhassen Minnesota. His goal is to help his patients achieve optimal health and wellness by providing them with the highest quality of care.Today’s episode we will dive deep into his practice on the ground as a chiropractic neurologist. And his wonderful case studies and experiences with utilizing the new vagus nerve stimulation device on his patients. When the vagus nerve is stimulated it forces those microglial cells, those brain immune cells back into the state where they're not disrupting serotonin production anymore which will help the patient achieve a good mood and elevate energy level which will increase motivation and increase happiness. We will also talk about the positive result of vagus nerve stimulation on migraine, asthma, autism and schizophrenia. Listen to the entire episode to learn more about Dr Michael Kennedy and all the exciting results he had with the new vagus nerve stimulation device! Mitochondria And Vagus Nerve Interaction
Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of the Health Upgrade Podcast. Today, we'll be discussing a few essential cellular processes that are necessary to ensure optimal body and cellular function. The first one is mitochondria. Every cell in our body, except for red blood cells, contains mitochondria, which produce the energy needed for the cell to perform its functions. Dysfunctional mitochondria can lead to chronic disease. The second process we'll be discussing is the effect of the vagus nerve and vagus nerve stimulation on mitochondria. Vagus nerve stimulation helps reduce inflammation and manage reactive oxygen species within and around cells, preventing an inflammatory cascade from becoming a chronic, disease-based pathway. We'll also delve into the roles of serotonin and melatonin, which are important neurotransmitters. Serotonin is involved in mood regulation and happiness, and breaks down melatonin. Melatonin, in turn, plays a significant role in sleep, recovery, and antioxidant processes. A lack of melatonin leads to a slow increase in oxidative stress and damage inside the mitochondria, causing the cell to become inflammatory.Rate and review before the next episode.
