In this bonus episode, Gabby reflects on the previous episode with Dr. Trevor Cates and shares her personal journey with hormonal health and experimentation. We break down specific and practical takeaways on things you can test in your nutrition, fitness, and daily lives in order to give you more strength to tackle outside toxins.Questions explored:What to buy organic and what you can pass on buying organic? What supplements are you taking and why?Do you put yogurt on your skin?Functional stretches to open the body and combat our hunched over tech-neck postures. You mentioned in the episode with Dr. Cates, you increased your protein intake "at the right time." What does that mean exactly? What were you doing before? What did you change? Did you notice changes - in body and mind? Are there any tidbits on eating for hormonal health you can share? Are there any products you've tried you can share? Without plugging any specific brand, have you tested and have any knowledge on specific essential oils.Any other practical things if you feel like weighing on them: how to avoid double chin, why frozen vegetables are bad? Best ways to store veggies (if people can't afford organic stock up every week)? #155 Benefits of XPT Pool Training, Stepping out of your Comfort Zone with Extreme Performance Training by Laird Hamilton and Gabby Reece
On this week's bonus, we re-visit some central questions and themes I explored in my discussion with Kenny "Bolt Wrestling" Johnson. We explore questions like:
What did you see XPT pool training do for Kenny? A special interest in people who are “expert” in one area thrown into another. So a wrestler thrown in the water?
When did water training come into Gabby’s life?
What has it done for you? How has it changed you? Body, mind & spirit?
What are the benefits and challenges of water training?
If I’m interested in getting into water training, where’s a good place to start?

#154 Feeling Better About Your Discomfort and Pursuing Your Passions for 30 Years with Brilliant MMA Coach and lifetime wrestler Kenny Bolt Wrestling Johnson
My guest today is MMA coach and lifetime wrestler Kenny "Bolt Wrestling" Johnson. Now before all my non fighting fans run for the exits, you may want to spend some time with us. Kenny is not only one of the most energetic, passionate people I know, but his take on approaching challenging goals and coaching is brilliant. He shares how he went from a 96-pound freshman to training the likes of BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Alexander Volkov, and Lyoto Machida to name a few.Kenny's ability to go hard and stay passionate about wrestling and helping others for close to 40 years is inspiring. He coaches at Black House MMA and Mira Costa High School.Kenny is on a mission to help young people develop and improve and uses wrestling to do that. This show is not about fighting (even though there are a lot of amusing stories) it's about being human and taking on lofty goals because you believe in what you're doing. Kenny wears his heart on his sleeve and likes to say the word Fuck from time to time (keep your eyes on the message). Enjoy!Timestamps:

Today, Gabby digs into the theme of "cost" which was heavily featured in our recent episode with Olympic gold medalist Kent Steffes and author Travis Mewhirter. Were there friendships, relationships, or other pursuits you had to set aside? - What were the sacrifices when you had to give up volleyball? How did the transition between career in competitive sport change to life after competing in sports? - What sacrifices are made on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis when juggling raising kids, your own dreams, starting businesses, maintaining a healthy loving romantic relationship with your partner?- Do you encourage your kids to play a particular sport or activity? - Do your kids feel like they have to perform at a high level?- Do your kids think you're cool?Connect with Gabby @gabbyreece | LinktreeFor show notes and past guests, please visit gabriellereece.com/podcastThe Gabby Reece Show talks to top experts with the goal of extracting the best information you will need to navigate the universe of health, fitness, relationships, parenting, and business. #149 Cultivating a Winner's Mindset & The Cost of Great Achievement | with Olympic Gold Medalist Kent Steffes & Author Travis Mewhirter
My guests today are gold medal beach volleyball champion Kent Steffes and beach volleyball player and author Travis Mewhirter. I don't care if you have an interest in beach volleyball, if you want to know what a winner's mindset is, then this is a conversation for you. Kent's unique approach to reaching goals, be it sport or business, is worth your time. His deep philosophical approach to executing a strategy is an example of a 1% person of the 1%. He readily admits there is a cost for winning and shares how he navigated that or re-framed it during his career. Kent and Travis's new book KINGS OF SUMMER, a history of men's beach volleyball, is out now. I just wish I knew Kent better 35 years ago to learn just the three things all the great volleyball players do.What did Kent do after he won the gold at 27? Headed to Stanford business school and did a complete pivot at 30. If you want to listen to someone who approaches things in a way most of us don't, tune in.
