Post US Mid Am Recap/How to be Positive when things go Bad

I recap my performance in the 39th U.S. Mid-Amateur at Colorado Golf Club and co-host course CommonGround Golf Course. And I take from that experience and a question one of my players asked me to discuss how to stay positive even when things go really poorly. Thanks for listening! What is Golf Mental Coaching?

I've learned a lot over my 16 years of playing competitive golf. From treading water from age 12 to age 25, to learning so much about myself under Robert Linville and Precision Golf School from age 25 until now at age 28, I have caught at least a glimpse of the value of mental coaching. And it helped me so much I decided to make it a life goal of mine to help other players learn the same things. Mental Warm-Up

It's just as important to warm-up mentally before the round as it is to warm-up physically. This is the why and how of that. Thanks for listening! For lots more, head to joshnicholsgolf.com. I Need to Evolve

Sometimes you have to look hard at yourself. Actually, all the time you have to look hard at yourself. You have to constantly deploy self-awareness against yourself. And when I do, I realize that I have been leaning to heavily on my own past experience and not pushing myself hard enough to evolve my knowledge and improve. Like I said in Part 1, my goal is to normalize mental coaching to the point that going to see a mental coach is the default for a struggling golfer. So if I have an ambition as big as that then I need to get better. So this is me checking in on myself and telling all of you my intentions. Question of the day: What would it take for your default when you're struggling to call up your mental coach instead of your swing instructor? Let me know your answer on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, or Twitter! @joshlukenichols everywhere (except facebook I'm @joshnicholsgolf) Thanks for listening! My Student Bounces Back

On this episode I talk about how one of my students bounced back from a bad round with the help of a strong mental attitude. And I 100% believe you can too. I give some instructions at the end and I want you to tweet me, message me on Instagram or Facebook, or email me at joshlukenichols@gmail.com with your experience of how it went. The pressure of an entire country on your shoulders

On this episode, I compare my experience in my county amateur tournament to Rory McIlroy in the Open Championship 😂 But truthfully, being the local hero with the pressure of an entire country is serious pressure. And I know players that have had to deal with this. There’s a way, but it’s difficult. *Shane Lowry is from Ireland, not Northern Ireland. Big difference. How to Make Quitting Easier

Hear me out on the quitting part. If you can quit pursuing a goal of yours with peace then you did something right along the way. Reverse engineer you ending in order to make your journey better. Question of the day: As a percentage, how much of yourself have you poured into the pursuit of your goal? For context on the question listen through the whole episode. Stick to the Process No Matter the Pressure

In the middle of the biggest moment of my playing career I abandoned my routine. The same routine that I had been diligently doing for over a year before it. I did this because I just wanted to be present and soak in the cool moment. But what I didn't realize was that sticking to my process was HOW I would've enjoyed the moment even more. Whatever process you might have, stick to it even in the biggest moment. Don't let your emotions or the pressure sway you. Follow me on Instagram!
