Why Am I Never Left With Any Money Each Month
In this episode, I'm featuring a Budget Rescue with Robert who asks:"Hi Shannah, thanks for taking the time to answer my question. BTW I love the new name of the show. This is one of the only places I feel like we can listen to all different types of conversations and you always surprise me with the topics. It’s so cool. I’m writing to see if you would give me some insights into my monthly budget. Here’s my snapshot - I make around $5K per month and have a fairly stable job, at least I think so. I know that I should have around $350 - $500 a month left over but the problem is that I don’t each month and I can’t figure out why. You’re super good at helping people with their budgets so I was wondering if you could give me some pointers and thoughts on what I might be missing or not including here. I’d like to be able to save some money for my ER fund every month and put some into a travel savings account. Thanks again for this show…it’s helped me so much."LINKSBudget Rescue Info Form (Be featured in an upcoming episode)4 Important Factors to Save Money on Your Car Insurance episodeSPONSORSThanks to HelloFresh for sponsoring this show. How to Live a Rich Life with Scarlett Cochran
What does a rich life look like? Our guest, Scarlett Cochran, founder of One Big Happy Life and author of the new book, It’s Not About The Money: A Proven Path to Building Wealth and Living the Rich Life Your Deserve, argues that a rich life has to be about more than the amount of money you have, the car you drive, and the house you live in. A rich life starts by asking yourself some powerful questions. Armed with the answers to those questions, you can then start to fill in the money part. And the best part about building a rich life is that it can look like whatever you want. The problem is you are so used to defining your life by your money when instead it just needs to be the other way around. How about we dive into this all with Scarlett and talk about what she calls the 3 purposes of money, what is getting in the way of us living a rich life, and we’ll ponder the idea that once you reach $75,000 in income you’ve hit your happiness peak. Alright, here’s to you living your best rich life.LINKSIt's Not About the Money bookOne Big Happy LifeSPONSORSThanks to HelloFresh for sponsoring this show. How to Invest In a Recession
At this point, who knows if we’re actually in a recession, and how big that recession might actually be. But that doesn’t change the fact that Wall Street is on pins and needles and the stock market has seen a fair share of ups and downs in the last 6 months. According to the Wall Street Journal, Despite signs that inflation has started to recede, economists still expect higher interest rates to push the U.S. economy into a recession in the coming year. On average, business and academic economists polled by the Journal put the probability of a recession in the next 12 months at 61%. What I really wanted to know, and my guess is you do too, is what in the world should you do with your investments in a recession. I called in Money’s Investing Editor, Mallika Mitra to weigh in on how you should be thinking about investing this year, tips to move past fear-based investing, what percentage of your paycheck should you be investing with, and why are women handling the stock market twists and turns better than men. It’s fascinating. LINKSMoneyInvesting With MoneySPONSORSThanks to ShipStation for sponsoring the show. How to Create Abundance in Your Life with Cathy Heller
What does it take to live an abundant life? That feels like a pie-in-the-sky question to ask, but I want you to just entertain the thought for a moment. What does abundance look like to you? While money might be the first thing that pops into your head, I challenge you to think about abundance not simply as a dollar amount, but as a way that you want to live your life - what you want to do, where you want to work, how you want to spend your time and how you want to feel. I’ve been super interested in this idea of abundance and how to bring what you want to do in life into reality so I turned to the abundance expert herself, Cathy Heller. You may know Cathy from her super popular podcast, The Cathy Heller Podcast, or her book, Don’t Keep Your Day Job. Cathy believes that creating true abundance is about this simple formula - your mindset plus action. As Cathy says, “it all starts with optimism. You have to feel a level of possibility for the things you want to do in life and that starts with a vision and the thoughts you have around that vision.” This episode is a joy explosion full of Cathy’s inspiring words and practical steps to help you start walking in abundance this year. I hope you’re ready.LINKSThe Cathy Heller PodcastMost Abundant Year WorkshopSPONSORSThanks to ShipStation for sponsoring the show.
