Episode 19: Dan Tudor & Jeremy Tiers On The Problem With Most Campus Tours
For all the time, money and effort spent on getting your prospects to visit campus, once they are actually there, things sometimes fall flat.
Such was the case with Dan and his family's recent visit to a college campus. It was a fine campus, with an enthusiastic tour guide, who gave out lots of information about the college.
And that is where the problem starts...
In this episode of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast, Dan Tudor gives listeners seven key observations about what went right, and what went wrong, during that visit they took.
Then, he welcomes today's guest, admissions expert Jeremy Tiers joins the podcast to talk about how admissions departments and coaches can improve the "product" they put on for their visitors. His advice is based on years of research as Admissions Director for Tudor Collegiate Strategies, as well as his time as a college basketball coach.
It's a fascinating discussion that will give you direction on how to identify the bad things you may be doing during your visits, as well as what to do differently in the future.

Episode 15: Mark Tewart on Recruiting Like a Car Sales Superstar
If you've ever shopped for a new car, you've probably experienced a good car salesperson, as well as bad ones.
I think that's what causes most coaches to think, "I'd never want to recruit like a car salesman!"
But hold on, Coach: What if there were ways to take the proven principles and strategies in car sales, and apply them to the process of recruiting a student-athlete?
Our guest today will give coaches that roadmap. His name is Mark Tewart, and he is one of the premier experts when it comes to car sales technique. Now, he teaches businesses the same successful principles that he developed in his thirty years of running successful car dealership businesses. The ongoing debate about if college athletic recruiting needs to change, and how it needs to change, and when it needs to change seems to be never ending.
Lots of questions, very few tangible ideas.
Michael Cross, Associate Athletic Director at Penn State University, the founder of Athlete Viewpoint, and publisher of UltimateSportsInsider.com, has a proposal.
We talk about his three steps towards meaningful reform. We also talk about Jerry McGuire, and actor John Cusack...but you'll just have to listen to understand all of that.

Episode 12: Mark Giganti on Pushing Your Prospect's Psychological Pause Button
As college coaches, we tend to want to push our prospects through the process towards our goal of getting them to commit.
But could there be times where you need to slow down and make them feel like you understand what their concerns or questions really are?
Yes.
At least that's the advice of our guest on today's show, Mark Giganti. He is, in my opinion, one of the greatest sales professionals and trainers in the country. I've known him for close to 25 years, and he has been one of the people that has helped shape my foundational understanding of sales, marketing and effective communication.
Today, he shares some specific advice for coaches who want to make sure they're guiding the prospect the right way. I know you'll find it valuable.
After the podcast, make sure you register for this Summer's 2017 National Collegiate Recruiting Conference in North Carolina. It's going to be fantastic, and we want you there.

Episode 10: 3-for-3 - Coaches Ask the Questions
It's a special episode of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast!
We call this one "3 for 3"...kind of a poor man's "30 for 30". Just like ESPN, we wanted to take topics and really go in-depth with questions they wanted answered. So we invited three coaches to ask three questions, and then hear Dan answer each one of them as completely as possible. We think you're going to love the show.
Also, Dan talks about how to host one of our On-Campus Workshops on your campus, and we give you more details on the upcoming 2017 National Collegiate Recruiting Conference this June. You'll want to attend, trust us.
